Mr. Mauck's Musings
Good Luck tomorrow to the JHS Dance team as dance for a State title. Our Color Guard has a good shot at advancing to State next week. They are performing at Semi-state Saturday. Congratulations to Liliana Serrano and Abby Schmitt who were recognized as our Student and Staff of the Week. Both bring positivity to our school. This week was School Social Worker Week. A huge thank you to Holly Hughes and Jill Kelly for all the hard work they do.
The JHS Psychology class took a field trip to the Indiana Medical History Museum and Mr. Otto's German class celebrated 100 years of Haribo gummy bears today. The Astra will continue the Movies on Main with a showing of High School Musical. Student Council will be recognizing Kindness Week with several activities. We also have the new spring bulletin boards up. The kids knocked this month out of the park.
Mrs. Kunz told me the JHS Jobs Board has exploded. If you are looking for employment opportunities check out the link below. There are openings now and for the summer.
Mr. Buechlein is holding a Community Learning Event to piggyback on the Screenagers panel from the end of February. This community event will have Det. Greg Brescher and Chad McClellan in a Q & A on the Digital Age. This event is for parents only as adult themes will be presented.
Finally, a group of JHS and JMS staff is raising money for Granted. Granted is a local community-based nonprofit organization, which funds wishes for area children with life-threatening and terminal conditions. There is a website where donations may be made to the group. All next week students may contribute donations to certain staff members. The staff member with the most money will get to kiss Pickles the Pig. Our money is on Mr. Jochum winning. Please consider donating to this wonderful cause. All of the children are within a 100-mile radius of Evansville, Indiana.
A reminder to all Junior and Senior students, Prom forms and fees are due by Friday the 17th at 3. Have a wonderful weekend.

Granted KISS A PIG CONTEST!
We are reaching out to spread awareness of a local community-based nonprofit organization called Granted, which funds wishes for area children with life-threatening and terminal conditions.
To help spread awareness and support this fundraiser, Over The Edge 4 Granted, We have started a team called DC Heroes, including GJCS staff Officer Knies, Gillian Blessinger, Amanda Grothouse, and Megan Wehr to help raise funds and ask for donations to support wishes for our local children, at which the conclusion of this event we have agreed to rappel a nine-story building in Evansville on April 29th alongside several wish children (children who received wishes through Granted) in a show of solidarity.
Go to https://p2p.onecause.com/<wbr>ote4granted2023/team/dc-heroes to contribute to our cause.

Parents--please consider donating to help the JHS PTO put on the post prom event for our students. This event is held to offer our students a safe, fun place to go after prom. There are a few ways to donate--you can send a donation of money or gift cards to JHS (Attn: Post Prom), or you can Venmo a donation to @jasperpto. We have also created an Amazon wish list that you can purchase a prize off of it and have it sent to JHS, Attn: Post Prom.

March 17th is quickly approaching! I MUST have your forms and dues by Friday, March 17th. Forms are available outside the attendance window. Dues MUST be turned in when you turn in your forms. All non-JHS guests MUST have a guest form filled out to account for them. The junior class officers need time to write out prom tickets for those who have paid and turned in forms. Therefore, the March 17th due date is non-negotiable.
If you have NOT turned in a form and/or dues by March 17th, I will assume you are NOT ATTENDING prom and will notations aside of your name accordingly. If you want to attend prom, you MUST fill in a form and pay your dues. Make sure you know for sure who you plan to attend prom with as NO CHANGES will be made after March 17th.
Questions? See Mrs.Keusch in Room 202 during homeroom or passing periods.
