Recess Behaviors: Hello parents! We need your help! We would love if you would have a family conversation about keeping hands to self on the playground and to avoid making shooting gestures with hands. We are working with our supervision team and classroom teachers to remind our students that we play games and interact with each other in ways that keep everyone safe. We appreciate your support!

Attention 5th Grade Parents: Sign Up for Band now!

Village Band Registration 22-23

Students in 5th Grade can now sign up and participate in the CUSD before-school band music program taught by Mrs. Nicole Baller.

We will be offering the following instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, and Percussion (snare drum and bells). Students will choose their instrument by ranking their top 3 choices on the following page. All instruments are appropriate for all genders. If your child would like to participate, please complete the form below and submit it by Friday, October 7th. Mrs. Baller will be reaching out to families to confirm instrument selection. Band will start the week of October 17th.

Once registered, you will receive an invitation for the week of Oct. 10th for a CUSD Band Open House (meet the teacher and have access to rent an instrument from a local music shop).

Village Band will meet every Thursday & Friday before school 7:15 - 8:00am.

Participation involves a strong commitment to rehearsal and performance.
Students are expected to:
*Be on time for class. 3 tardies will equal as an absence.
*Participate in rehearsals and performances.
*Stay focused during class.
*Attend all classes.

It is recommended that beginners rent their instruments to start out as they may end up switching to a new instrument, and most stores will allow you to trade rentals. This year we are partnering with Harper’s Music in Chula Vista.

Performance dates will be communicated as soon as they are scheduled.

K/1: Light: Observing the Sun, Moon, Stars. The big problem we will focus on is how to protect play spaces from UV rays and heat from the sun.

2/3: "Life Cycles and Survival". We will study various plant and animal life cycles and address the problem of bee population declines and how we can help these important helpers survive and begin to thrive again.

4/5: "Energy" Collisions". Students are learning about potential and kinetic energy, and the distribution of energy during collisions. Students' big problem will be to design and build a restraint system to protect a raw egg from cracking during a collision of a VEX vehicle.

Thank you to Coronado Schools Foundation (CSF) for funding ILAB at Village!

Important Information about Village Elementary: Get Involved!

Village Parent and Teacher Organization (PTO):

Please, please become a member of PTO! Without the generous membership donations of time and money, Village would not be the incredible school that it is today! PTO pays for field trips, assemblies and presentations, grade level and teacher funding and school culture building. They host several events throughout the year like the Jog-a-thon, Bingo for Books, and Movie nights! Please check out our Village PTO page for more information and announcements.

Coronado Schools Foundation (CSF):

CSF is the Coronado Schools Foundation and is separate from our Village PTO. CSF raises money for special programs and pathways at Village. Our Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), Innovation Lab (ILAB), Band and Choir are all paid for by CSF. Without your generous donations, our students would not be provided these opportunities. Please consider signing up for Hive365 to help keep our programs alive and thriving for our students.

Volunteering will be in full swing. In order to volunteer you must complete the volunteer application. This includes a negative TB test within the last 4 years, no exceptions. Good News: We will have a volunteer TB survey on August 15th from 1-3 pm, at Village Hall. If you plan to volunteer, please come to this event! If you do not come to the event, and plan to volunteer, you will need to have a Dr.'s office prove your negative TB test or have a new negative TB test verification. Please be patient with us as we try to get volunteers on campus ASAP, all the while, following state and county mandates.
