A Letter From The Principal
Dear Field Families,
I hope you have been enjoying the run up to the holidays. It's always a busy time of year for everyone and the relaxation that should follow every holiday is nearly upon us. This is also a time for us to reflect on the year that has passed as well as look forward to the year that is starting. I want to let every family know how much I have appreciated the warm welcome you have given me as a part of the Field community. From the meet the principal station at our back to school party to the many phone conversations or visits to the office, I have enjoyed getting to know everyone and appreciate our collaboration in making Field School the best place for our students to learn and grow.
I am also looking forward to 2018 being an even better year for our school. One new process that will be implemented at Field is a new snack policy. We have seen an increase every year in the number of students with health concerns or food-based allergies. As a result, we are shifting from a grade-level based snack policy to a school-wide policy. Here is a link to the school snack letter that applies to all classes in grades 1 - 5. Our kindergarten classes still do not have snacks. Please take a look at this letter so you can make sure the snack you send with your student is OK for snack time in the classroom. Of course, this is only a snack letter. Your child's lunch is not covered within this policy.
There is one more item with which I need your help. With the shift to winter weather, we have had more parents driving students to school or picking students up from school. Our traffic guidelines are attached below, so please review them. Of special note, I need to ask everyone who uses the Kiss and Go section to please actually kiss and go. We cannot have cars stop there for several minutes. When that happens, we have other parents who then stop in the middle of the street or park on the opposite sides of the street and have students run through traffic. This is very unsafe for our students. It all comes back to needing the Kiss and Go section to run more fluidly. I very much appreciate your help in keeping our students safe at school.
I hope everyone has a restful and relaxing winter break. No matter which holiday your family celebrates, I wish you peace, joy, and happiness in 2018. I hope this is the best year each of our students will have, at least until 2019. I am looking forward to our collaborative efforts to make the experiences each student has from kindergarten through 5th grade the foundation for pursuing their dreams and passions. Let's have a great 2018!
