Notes from Mrs. Riley and the Nurses
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Tyngsborough Public School nurses are deeply saddened that the students will not be back to school this year, however it is in the best interest of public health to continue to keep social distance to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We sincerely hope that you and your families are safe and healthy at home.
Many students have life saving medications such as albuterol inhalers, epinephrine autoinjectors, etc. in the Health Office. If you would like your child’s medication returned to you, please contact your school nurse via email by Monday May 4, 2020. Once we know which parents would like their child’s rescue medications returned, your school nurse will contact you with the arrangements..
Because of the unexpected early school closure, not all students were able to be screened this year as part of our yearly mandated screenings. If your child was not screened, or was screened and referred, you will be receiving an email from your school nurse to advise. It is recommended that all students that were not screened or that were screened and referred should be evaluated by their Primary Care Provider when an appointment can safely be scheduled. The screening results should be forwarded to your school nurse at the contact information below. We thank you in advance for your assistance with this important matter.
Additionally, as many of you are aware, Massachusetts has mandated requirements for immunizations. Students entering Preschool, Kindergarten, 7th grade, 11th grade and all new students to the district need to show proof of required immunizations. Click here for the required immunization schedule. New for the 2020-2021 school year, students entering 7th grade must show proof of both Tdap and the meningococcal conjugate vaccines and students entering the 11th grade must show proof of a meningococcal conjugate booster. Click here for more information. For students entering grades 7 and 11, for the 2020-2021 school year, your child’s school nurse will contact you by email to let you know if additional vaccination documentation is needed.
There is a link on the Tyngsborough Public Schools website with COVID 19 related resources which may be accessed by clicking here. There are some valuable resources regarding access to food as well as information regarding the prevention and treatment of COVID 19.
Please know that your school nurses are here for you to answer any of your school related questions or concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can help you in any way.
Sincerely,
The TPS Nurses

Need a little help from a tutor?
Good afternoon,
I hope this email finds you and your families well. I know schools have closed for the rest of the year and want to offer help. I was talking with Chelsey Guastucci and we would love to help with tutoring, workshops, and just having zoom meetings with current students to talk about their classwork and helping them through this time. We are sure many other current college students and Tyngsborough alumni would love to give back and help out. We look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
Sara Moran

Keys to Success in a Remote Learning World
Here are some good plans:
- Go to bed at a reasonable time and wake up at a reasonable time. Many Google Meets are in the a.m. and you should try to make it to as many as you can to see your teachers and friends. Teachers are recording the discussions if you can't make it in the morning.
- Make sure you have a good breakfast, get dressed, and be ready to go.
- Find a good place to meet your classmates. Get up and get dressed and find a quiet place in your house to do your meeting and work. Make it your "office" if you can!
- Ask questions! The teachers love it if you have some good questions for the discussion.
- Take some notes if it helps you remember the discussion.
- BUILD IN 5-10 MINUTE BREAKS. Don't try to power through it all! Take your Fitness break too!
- If you are doing work after 5:00 p.m. and emailing teachers with questions, understand that teachers will more than likely get back to you the next day. Always check your email to see what you have been sent.
Pictures of remote learning and order your yearbook
We would love to include some more pictures in the yearbook of students in action at home, whether it be them while they are remote learning, helping in the yard, hanging out with their siblings, or playing with their pets. If you would like to share pictures for the yearbook, please send them to michelle.cirrone@tyngsboroughps.org.
There is still some time left to order a yearbook online if you haven't done so already. If you have any questions, please reach out to Michelle Cirrone.

Perfect During Your Time at Home
Our efficient and effective 3-step model provides kids with the essentials they need, free of charge. This enables us to engage communities that have, connecting them with communities that need.
- New and nearly new children’s items are collected through grassroots community drives and corporate donations.
- Donations are then processed and packaged by volunteers in our warehouse, The Giving Factory.
- Packages from The Giving Factory are distributed to local disadvantaged children — through our collaborative network of diverse Service Partners.
