Have You Ever Felt Stuck?
The basis for Mrs. Schau’s chapel message was on Exodus chapter 14 where Moses and the Israelites were trying to escape from Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. The Israelites come to the Red Sea with the Egyptian army following them. The Israelites were fearful and cried out to God for help. God told Moses to lift up his staff and stretch out his hand over the Red Sea. As Moses did this, the Red Sea parted, allowing the Israelites to cross safely. The Egyptians were in pursuit. As they crossed the sea, the waters returned and drowned the army. The Israelites were free.
Mrs. Schau began her chapel message with a magic trick. She asked for six volunteers. She paired up the volunteers and proceeded to tie their hands together with yarn, crossing one piece of yarn over the other. The object was to separate without untying or slipping the yarn off their wrists. After a time, one group was able to do it; however, the other two groups became more tangled together, no matter how hard they tried to get apart. Mrs. Schau asked the one successful group how they did it. They could not tell. Mrs. Schau said she had a solution for the other two groups. She used scissors to cut the yarn and separate them.
Mrs. Schau asked how the groups felt as they tried to different ways to separate. They said they felt stuck and trapped. It was not a good feeling. She then asked how it felt when she had a solution. They felt much better.
Mrs. Schau reminded us that if we ever feel trapped or stuck, there is a way out. All we need to do is pray to God and He will help. The Israelites were trapped by the Red Sea in front and the Egyptians following close behind. They called out to God for help. God was ready with His plan. God has a plan for us. We need to call out to Him and trust God’s plan. Psalm 46:10 reminds us, “Be still and know that I am God.”

Church Bell Tower
The progress continues on the bell tower. They are shoring up the bell tower with metal beams as they remove and repair the limestone arches. It is quite a process! We are grateful to the workers and pray for their continued safety as they work to beautify our bell tower.

St. Philip Gardens
Have you noticed our garden boxes outside? Thanks to some volunteers, they are now ready for planting. Our classes chose several different types of fruits and vegetables to plant, along with pollinators. We cannot wait to eat strawberries, cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes, to name a few. Our hydroponics garden continues to grow. Soon we can eat some of the lettuces.
Second - Fourth Grade's Trip to West Ridge Nature Preserve
A message from our Director of Marketing & Enrollment - Mrs. Bateman
As we begin to prepare for the next school year, it's helpful to remind ourselves why families choose a Lutheran education for their children. Here are just a few of the many reasons...
- Christian. Our faith gives us a worldview in which we see God active in the world around us. For this reason, faith and education go hand in hand. Our teachers set an example of mature faith for our students. Every classroom has daily devotions and the whole school participates in weekly chapel services.
- Private, Independent and Traditional. We are proud to provide our students with a classic and traditional education. Because we are a private education institution, we have the ability to search for the best curriculum for our students. While at the same time keeping up with new educational needs.
- Ideal Student-to-Teacher Ratio. Because of our ideal student-to-teacher ratio, each student at our school receives the individual attention that they need. For those students who may need some additional tutoring or special education care, we have education specialists who are onsite in our school, on a daily basis as needed, to give those students that extra help they need.
- Opportunity. We want our students to be well-rounded. At St. Philip, our students have many opportunities to participate in a wide range of activities such as athletics, art and music classes, annual musical/plays, community service projects, and much more.
- Parental Involvement. Another advantage of St. Philip is our ability to welcome parental involvement throughout the school year. We understand the importance of the presence of parents helping out in our classrooms, attending our weekly chapel services, and supporting our after-school events. YOU are a very important piece of the education process!
Thank you for choosing a Lutheran education for your child!

Chapel Offering Recipient:
We continue to pray for all those affected by the war in Ukraine. The crisis hits close to home as a few of our St. Philip family has family members who live in Ukraine. We want to help, so we have designated Lutheran Church Charities as our chapel offering recipient for our final quarter of the school year. Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) is a non-profit ministry which supports Christian human care ministries of the Church. LCC volunteers are currently supporting Ukrainian refugees. 100% of our donations will go to support Ukrainians who are suffering. Our goal is $400.00. Chapel offering: $357.50
Let Us Pray For You
We ask God to be with us during these final weeks of school.
We pray for peace and safety in the world, especially in Ukraine. We thank God and pray for all those who are assisting with finding refuge for all those displaced from their homes.
We pray for Dan and Barb Nosko. They were moved to rehab facilities. May God strengthen and healing them. We also pray for Henry Krysik’s mother, who is hospitalized. We continue to pray for Barb Uber and Karen Huston.
We pray for continued healing for Nurse Pat’s (CLEF) mom who fell and broke her hip. May God watch over her recovery.
We pray for all those affected by illness including our students and their families.
We pray for families all those who are struggling with challenges. May God give them strength to endure.
We pray for health and safety among our students, families, and staff.
We ask God to bless our chapel offering recipient, Lutheran Church Charities to help Ukrainians in need. May our gifts help the people of Ukraine.
