A note from Principal Ronayne

It has been fantastic having your children back at school 4 days a week. Thank you so much for your commitment to getting them online on Wednesdays. This is an equally important day, as the other four, to help your child progress. Thank you, also, for your attendance at your child's parent/teacher conference in February. They were well attended.

If you have a child that is planning on attending Kindergarten next year, please see the announcement below regarding registration. There is a link provided there for you to register your child for next year.

Teacher Requests for 2021-22

If you would like to request a specific teacher for your child next year, you will need to put the request in writing and send it to the Principal by April 16th. All letters need to contain specific educational reasons for your request. All requests will be reviewed. Final decisions for placement will be made by school staff. It is very important for parents to realize that your child’s current teachers put in a lot of time creating the best possible classrooms for the upcoming year. Many factors are taken into consideration and parent requests are one of the many important factors.

SPRING BREAK FUN DAYS-It's Not Too Late to Register!!


Please contact your child's teacher or the school office for an enrollment form. Forms are DUE by Friday, March 12th.

Spring Break Fun Days will be March 15th through March 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Faribault Middle School. This event is open to all students in Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade from any school. Community School will host multiple activities for students on these days including art projects, science experiments, physical activities, and more! A free snack and lunch will be provided. 2021-2022 Kindergarten Registration

Children turning 5 years old by September 1, 2021 can register for 2021-2022 Kindergarten.


You can register your child for kindergarten online by going to Once you start your application you will be given an application number. Please keep this number in the event you do not complete the application in one sitting. You will need it later to finish the application process. If you already have a parent portal account, you can register by logging in to the parent portal and clicking on Online Registration. If you have questions during the online registration process, please call 507-333-6067.


Kindergarten representatives will be available, Wednesday, March 10th from 9:00 am - Noon at McKinley Early Childhood Center, (930 4th Ave NW.)

For the safety of staff and attendees, mask - wearing and social distancing will be required. Please limit attendance to one parent and one child.

Summer STEAM Registration-NOW OPEN!

As we begin the new month of March it is time to begin planning for Summer. This summer students will have the opportunity to enroll in Faribault's Summer STEAM program. Summer STEAM will be a nine week camp focused on developing students’ skills in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Breakfast and lunch will be provided at no cost. The program will run Monday-Thursday from 8AM-3PM, June 14 through August 12. The deadline for students to apply will be Wednesday, March 24th.

Parent Reminders

Masks Required

Please remember to make sure your child(ren) are wearing a clean mask to school each day. Masks are required for students riding the school bus also.

Parents and visitors are also required to wear a face mask when entering the building entryway and waiting outdoors for your child(ren).


When your child is absent from school (i.e. illness, late due to an appointment), please remember to call us. To ensure that our students are safe, the office staff will be contacting families, at home or work, when we do not receive a call. Messages can be left on our 24 hour voicemail any time of the day or night. Please call the attendance line by 8:30 a.m. at 333-6701.

Children Should Be Dressed For the Weather

Our policy is that we allow students outside for recess as much as possible throughout the winter months. We monitor the temperature and wind chill and determine, on a daily basis, whether or not to have the students go outside. If the temperature or wind chill is below zero, the students stay inside. This means that for the vast majority of the days your child will be outside before the bell rings in the morning and for 20 minutes during the noon hour. Please make sure they come to school well dressed for the weather. We also require students to wear snow pants outside if they are using the playground equipment. If they come to school without snow pants they will be restricted to the blacktop area of the playground. One final reminder, please make sure that your child’s name is written in their jacket, hat and gloves. That way if it is misplaced and put in the lost and found, they will be able to find it.

School Delays or Closings

Decisions to close or delay schools will be made as soon as possible. Please look for announcements the day before a winter storm or by 6:00 a.m. the day of the closing or delay of school. Please refrain from calling the schools and check the notification sources below.

Early Dismissals-

In early dismissal situations, bus students will be transported home.

Parents of children who walk to and from school are requested to review with their children where to go when released early. Every family must have a written emergency plan on file with the classroom teacher. Parents may always use personal judgment in keeping students home or picking them up early in storm conditions

A Note from Hannah in the Health Office

The Health Office is in GREAT need of gently used boy's pants, sizes 4T, 5 and 6 for some of our smallest Falcons. These are provided to our students in need due to in school accidents, spills, etc. Please feel free to send with your student(s) or drop off at Roosevelt.

Please note that HealthFinders Collaborative Dental Clinic is , again, planning to provide dental services to students during school hours. Your child should have brought home a consent form, but you may contact me, Hannah Bongers, in the Roosevelt Health Office at 507-333-6704.
