District Rebranding
She explained that branding is more than a logo - but the logo is the primary visual representation of the brand to the public. A survey sent to parents, staff and students about the logo has received more than 740 responses. The survey closes on April 24, and a team will review the input and make adjustments before revealing the final logo.
Community Comments
In the first opportunity for input, Colliope Nicolandis, parent, voiced her concern about the approval of the tech book for the middle school social studies curriculum, and, in general, the increasing use of online resources without a print resource.

Social Studies Resource Adoption
The Board discussed the concerns raised by the community member about not having printed resources in grades 6-8. Dr. Siverman explained that with the Techbook, there is less memorization and more inquiry, problem solving and critical thinking to help students relate historical events to their lives.
The Board expressed that they were impressed with the resources shared, and felt that the flexibility of digital resources to be updated in real time was a strong benefit. They approved the adoption of the following:
- Trade books for K-2
- Social Studies Alive! (a combination of online and hard copy resources) for grades 3-5
- Discovery Education Techbook for 6-8
The Board said that they would like to have continued thoughtful conversations about the use of technology.
