A Message from the Principal
Happy New Year, Happy Epiphany!
What gift will you present to the Christ Child this year?
One of my goals for our wonderful school is to develop a more robust and engaging service learning program for our students, staff and HFCS community. To that end, the faculty started our second semester in the spirit of service at the Ronald McDonald House yesterday and cooked and baked for the families that are in residence there. The Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth is known for “Keeping Families Close,” and “offers a supportive, home-like community that eases burdens for seriously ill children and their families.”
It felt so good to gather together yesterday to support these families and live into our own motto of Learn, Serve, Lead.
While we were at the Ronald McDonald House we were very excited to learn that our MS students are old enough to participate in this type of service learning, too. We will be exploring the opportunity for some of our students to experience this same service learning experience during the school day with teacher and parent supervision. This type of hands-on experience will help our students grow as joyful disciples, lifelong learners, and compassionate leaders. Stay tuned for more information!
The Christmas break was a good time to reflect on some of the internal accomplishments of first semester. These are some of the new and successful changes and initiatives that I am grateful for:
· A positive school culture and climate that supported a smooth leadership transition –thank you students, faculty/staff, and parents for your support!
· A Dominican sister on staff – thank you, Fr. Hoa for bringing Sr. Teresa to HFCS!
· A full-time Development and Enrollment Director!
· The implementation of a Virtue and Saint of the Month program!
· Silly Sock Day and enrichment programming supported increased parent attendance at Home and School Association meetings!
· Quarterly Coffee and Conversation with the Principal!
· The results of the Parent/Staff/Board Survey – soon to be published!
· The implementation of ZAP (Zeros Aren’t Permitted) Hall for grades 5 -8 during lunch to support academic success!
· The faculty and staff for their tireless work on the 100 page Accreditation Self-Study document – it’s almost finished!
Holy Family, Pray for us!
Blessings,
