Knighthawk Family News
Pleasant Knoll Middle School - February Edition
Message from Mrs. Hustedt
I hope this newsletter finds all of our families doing very well. We are so fortunate for supportive families and awesome students that are prepared to learn each day. As the second semester is underway, we have a busy few months ahead of us. The end of the year will be here before we know it. As many of our families know, our state testing will take place in May. We will send you those dates for each grade level in the next few weeks. Our 8th grade students are starting the process of getting ready for high school by meeting with our counselors for Individual Graduation Plans. Spring sports are getting started, and play practice is in full swing. To say the least, we have a lot to look forward to over the next few months of school.
One thing that makes PKMS so special is the quality of our teachers and staff. They work so hard to make sure that our students are prepared, engaged, and learning. They have yet to back down from any challenges that we have thrown their way. Many of our teachers don't work just their contracted hours, but they arrive at school before the sun comes up and don't leave until after it goes down. Please join me in showing our appreciation and lifting up our PKMS teachers.
We truly want what is best for your child. We believe teachers, students, and parents are all on the same team. We appreciate the collaboration and communication we have with all of our families. Let's continue to work together for our students.
Thank you again for supporting our students, teachers, and PKMS!

FMSD Return to Five Day Instructional Model
Please note: Students who are currently in the Fort Mill Virtual Academy will remain virtual. Students who previously selected face-to-face learning will continue to be face-to-face. We are unable to make changes at this time.

8th Grade IGP's
(Individual Graduation Plans)
March 1 - 12: IGP meetings are almost here and will be held for all 8th grade students & parents.
Don't forget to mark your calendar and set a reminder for your IGP meeting date/time (all meetings will be over the phone this year). Students will meet with a counselor at PKMS and a parent will be called for your phone conference IGP meeting. Course selections and IGP information will be reviewed for 9th grade. IGP meetings should take approximately 15 minutes. We look forward to helping all our Knighthawks have a smooth transition to high school! If you have any questions, please contact your student's PKMS counselor.
We hope you will join us in fundraising in support of the Polar Plunge. The funds raised by this event directly impact our students and their ability to participate in sports via Special Olympics.

PKMS ABC President,

Thank you from Mr. Donnelly!
I just wanted to say thank you for everything you all have done for me. One year ago on February 14th, I had my lung transplant. Hard to believe. I am still doing well. My recent check up has given me a good prognosis with no signs of rejection. I am working out each day and feeling stronger. I really feel I would not be here without your support. Everything you did for us helped to lift a heavy burden from us through my initial recovery. Thank you again and I plan to be here next February 14th as well.
