Letter from the President

Fall at the Ranch

Hello Vineyard Ranch Families,

I am Heidi Koentopp, your 2019-2020 PTA President. We have been back in full swing this Fall, volunteering, sponsoring events and raising money for our beloved Vineyard Ranch Broncos!

We started out with Meet the Teacher and the School Spirit Store, kicked off the school year for our new parents at Tacos and Tissues and a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, moved on to Parent Orientation, and had an excellent Grandparents Day with grandparents being able to visit the children's class rooms. In case you didn't know, we also had some Surrogate Volunteer Grandparents come over from our neighbor, Concordia Lutheran Church, for our Broncos whose grandparents live too far to visit.

Our parents have helped our Broncos in the Library, in the cafeteria, at Field Day, during National Walk to School Day, and in the copy room. Our Watch D.O.G.S. kicked off with their first meeting, and we are excited to have them on campus.

It’s not too late to sign up to be a volunteer! Although you do not have to be a PTA member to volunteer, your membership fees are minimal and having you as a listed member helps our school immensely on the local and state levels. The goal of PTA organizations is to advocate for laws that further the education, physical and mental health, welfare, and safety of children and youth, as well as the fiscal responsibility regarding public tax dollars in public education and funding.

Membership is not limited to parents of Broncos; friends, fellow students, and grandparents can also become a member of the PTA. And if you haven’t jumped on the Greenback bandwagon, it’s the EASIEST fundraiser ever—no cookie dough or wrapping paper sales!

Thanks for your support. We are lucky to have such giving and involved families at Vineyard Ranch. See you at Trunk or Treat!

Vineyard Ranch PTA

Membership

Last year we had 464 members of the Vineyard Ranch Elementary PTA, and we would like to exceed that this year and are currently 84% of the way there! Thank you all for your continued support.

If you haven’t already, make sure you have joined the PTA for the 2019-2020 academic year! The $6 dues fee covers local, state and national PTAs, so you’ll be supporting programs at all three levels.

If you have joined, consider adding your spouse, children, or grandparents. Please also share this newsletter with your neighbors, friends, and children's classmates who may not have already joined! The more members we have, the louder our voice can be.

Red Ribbon Week; “SEND A MESSAGE. STAY DRUG FREE.™”

Monday, Oct. 28th, 6am to Friday, Nov. 1st, 11:45pm

16818 Huebner Road

San Antonio, TX

The Red Ribbon Campaign® is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week®, October 23rd - October 31st each year.

National Family Partnership is the sponsor of the National Red Ribbon Week® Celebration. They are helping citizens across the country come together to keep children, families and communities safe, healthy and drug-free, through parent training, networking and sponsoring the National Red Ribbon Campaign®.

DID YOU KNOW? Children of parents who talk to their CHILDREN regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who do not; yet, only a quarter of teens report having these conversations. Red Ribbon Week is your opportunity to get the ongoing conversation started.

This year’s theme is Send A Message. Stay Drug Free .™ Visit www.redribbon.org to learn more about Red Ribbon Week® and get tips for talking to your kids about drugs .

Vineyard Ranch PTA encourages parents to take time and have discussions with your children about red ribbon week. Not only discuss illegal drugs, also discuss. Alcohol, smoking and bullying: being kind to everyone.

Our School will celebrate Red Ribbon Week by delivering a drug prevention message every day during the morning announcements. Children and staff will celebrate “wear red” day and the school will hold a Red Ribbon Rally to kick off the week. Every day will have a fun dress up theme that supports the message.

Prevention curriculum will be integrated into classes each day, fostering a deeper understanding of the message “NO to Drugs, NO to Alcohol, No to Smoking and NO to Bullying.” Students will create a “Walls of Pledges” throughout the campus.

We want you the parents of our students to STAY INFORMED AND HELP YOUR CHILDREN UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF RED RIBBON WEEK.

Community Partners

The Crider Group

The Crider Group philosophy is simple: clients come first. They pledge to be in constant communication with their clients, keeping them fully informed throughout the entire buying or selling process. They believe that if you’re not left with an amazing experience, they haven’t done their job. They don’t measure success through achievements or awards, but through the satisfaction of their clients.
