Keep Sharing the #deckthedoors Post

Our annual #deckthedoors classroom contest is well underway! Remember, the door that receives the most likes on the original Facebook album will earn its teacher something special for her class! Share the album here. The deadline is Midnight, 12/17 so the winning door can be awarded at our last day of school on Friday.

Christmas Reading Party

Join us for Leaders Are Readers, our twice-monthly virtual story time. This will be our last session of the year, so break out your Christmas shirts and hats, put out the cookies, and pour a big glass of milk! The link to join will be emailed that afternoon. This week, we enjoyed hearing from Mrs. Summerrise and four student readers (see photos below). Would your child like to read? Or do you or someone else you know want to be a guest reader? Interested readers should email Mrs. Rivas with the book you would like to read: RRivas@stannschoollansing.org.

Candy Tower Raffle is a Success!

Congratulations to 2nd Grader Chukwueku Dagholor, winner of the Candy Tower Raffle sponsored by Student Council. There were 305 entries, and we made $265 to donate to the Angel Pledge Program to help save our school. Special thanks to the Columbian Ladies who made the tower for our Casino Night that had to be canceled due to the pandemic.

Help Save Our School!

As you have heard, the Archdiocese of Chicago has tasked us with raising $150,000 to cover this year’s deficit or face probable closure at the end of the current school year. One of the contributing factors to our large shortfall this year is the fact that we did not charge our usual refundable Volunteer Deposit since we can’t use volunteers during the pandemic, and thus, there are no opportunities to earn it back. In reality, very few families put in enough time to earn this fee back every year, so we usually end up with about $30k that helps cover school expenses.

Would you consider “volunteering” your $300 Volunteer Fee

for the Angel Program?

If every school family were to contribute at least $300, we could add $30k to the pot very quickly. You will also receive a limited edition St. Ann tumbler (other donors have to give at least $1,000 in order to receive one of these!) and some other St. Ann surprises. And of course if you can give more, or rally others to go in with you on a larger donation, it would be an even bigger help. After #GivingTuesday, our total has now reached $58,000 in pledges and donations. Help us keep that positive momentum going!

Set your pledge up online at https://www.givecentral.org/location/100/event/27725, or complete the pledge form you received and return to school with your check or credit card information. If you prefer to process your donation as a pledge, your card will be charged $30 per month over 10 months for a $300 pledge. Thank you!

Together we can do this!

Thank you, thank you to everyone who has already donated or referred donors to us!

Are You Sending in Your Stracks Receipts? Please Ask Others to Save Them for You Too!

Collect Strack & VanTil Food Market register receipts dated between September 1 and March 1 to help St. Ann earn FREE educational rewards! Every classroom has a Collection Envelope, and we will be tallying the value of the receipts turned in. The class that brings in the most will win a prize! Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays are a great time to be collecting receipts since so many people shop for their feasts!

Nominate Your #SchoolHero Today!

We love our Catholic schools’ employees. Teachers, leaders and support staff have worked tirelessly over the summer and the start of our school year to bring exceptional in-person and remote learning to families during this unprecedented time. To recognize their fantastic work, the Office of Catholic Schools is excited to introduce the #SchoolHero program. We’ll highlight the educators and staff who have gone above and beyond in order to ensure a safe and productive learning environment through social media and the web. All school employees and families can nominate a school hero by completing a brief online form.

Did you know your purchases can make a difference? Don't forget to shop through our AmazonSmile link every time! AmazonSmile donates to St. Ann when you do your shopping at smile.amazon.com/ch/36-2601098. And if you purchase Amazon gift cards through the St. Ann TRIP program, you will also get money back toward your tuition!
