Growing Leaders! October 18, 2020
What's Happening in the Furr Fold!
When you receive this newsletter, it will be the start of the 3rd week in October and the second week of the nine weeks. Time is starting to fly by. The holidays are approaching and the weather is starting to change! It sounds like "FALL" is on its way! These transitions bring changes to our school as well. This is the time when our Lost & Found starts to grow, exponentially! Please make sure that all coats and jackets are labeled. Your help with this would be appreciated. (All items left over the winter break will be donated to our area shelters).
TARDIES: We have had many In-Person students late to school...and late to class, since our weather has started to cool down. When a student is late, they miss out on their class morning meetings! The first part of the day is crucial to the social-emotional well-being of all our students! The day is specifically designed around this and when our students are late, they are missing this vital lesson. Students should be sitting at their desk before 7:40 AM.
Please make sure you are getting your student to school on time! Thank you.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES: Friday, October 30th, is set aside for Parent-Teacher Conferences. All conferences will be virtual. Please make sure that you have signed up for a conference through your child's classroom teacher. IF you are not able to attend, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher and make other arrangements.
MORNING ARRIVAL: DROPPING OFF YOUR CHILD: We have 2 areas designed for dropping off your student safely, the front (A-L) car line and the back (M-Z) car line. Please DO NOT drop your child off at the bike racks. This is not a drop off zone. Thank you for your help in this area.
RED RIBBON WEEK: October 26th - 30th. Below, you will find a description for our dress up days! Also, there is a flyer below!
Monday, Oct 26....Wear a Hat
Tuesday, Oct 27....Wear Warm-Ups
Wednesday, Oct 28....Wear a Kindness shirt or a Red T-shirt
Thursday, Oct 29....Wear a Prosper Spirit shirt or Halloween shirt
YEARBOOKS: It is yearbook time of year! Time to order that is. You will want to capture all of the uniqueness of this school year by purchasing a yearbook. Now through November 13th, buy for the lowest price of the year, just $30.00.
PICTURE RETAKES: Picture retakes are on Thursday, October 29th. Both In-Person and Virtual students will have the opportunity to retake their fall pictures. For our Virtual students needing a picture retake or are needing to have their picture taken, please sign your student up using this VIRTUAL SIGN-UP GENIUS-2 (9:30-12:30). More information will be forthcoming to our virtual parents concerning where to drop off your student for their picture.
Prosper ISD Parental Involvement Policy 20-21: In support of strengthening our student academic achievement, Furr elementary receives Title I state funds. To learn more about how we are involving parents in our district and with this process, please read the Parental Involvement Policy attached. ** All activities subject to restrictions based on Covid guidelines.
Education, the foundation on which all lives are built. Thank you for entrusting us with your children. The collaboration between teachers, families and students is what builds the solid foundation for our student's educational success. I wanted to thank you parents for your patience and grace. Please know that we are in this together as we educate our kids! Thank you for entrusting us with your children so that we can make the world a better place. It starts with us...Be Kind!

FACE COVERINGS
@FURRELEMENTARY
Face coverings are required for all adults, 4th graders and 5th graders at Furr Elementary. We highly encourage ALL students, Pre-K to 5th grade, to wear a mask. All masks, brought from home, need to follow the PISD dress code requirements. Parents, please pack a mask in your child's backpack where it is readily accessible in case your child needs one. Thank you for your help in this matter.
Here at Furr Elementary, we will continue to follow and implement all guidelines set forth by our governor, local authorities and our district. We continue to enforce face coverings, washing hands, using hand sanitizer and social distancing on a continual basis. Please check our district website, Covid Dashboard, for any and all updates from our district.
