Peek at the Week
Week of 4/30/2018
Shepherd Middle School in the News
First round scores came back for 8th grade ELAR and Math. The cohort group of 7th graders did better in ELAR than Math. We needed to make an instructional change in preparation for the 2nd round of tests that occurs in two weeks. A piece that will be imperative to see marked gains in ELAR and Math, is work on vocabulary. Mrs. Dean will be having students identify what words on the released STAAR test, they do not understand. As soon as those words are identified, it is essential that all stakeholders at SMS, use the vocabulary on a purposeful, daily basis. This focus, along with relationship building, will continue to produce the fruit of true learning.
This Thursday, Mrs. White and Mrs. Corbridge will be sharing out what they learned when they went to a Professional Development (PD) on Robotics. This is the wave of professional learning that will be the standard for SMS. When you go to PD, the expectation will be for you to present what you learned. Looking forward to learning more about Robotics!
