St. Michael Preschool News
Growing with God... Oct. 3, 2022
He commands His angels with regard to you, to guard you wherever you go. Psalm 91:11
Dear St. Michael Preschool Families & Friends,
Last week, we joyfully celebrated St. Michael Feast Day! A big thank you to Fr. Michael and Fr. John who prayed and played with our preschoolers in honor of our patron saint.
This week, Deacon Mark and Fr. John will be a special part of our Church Morning as they teach the children about St. Francis and bless their stuffed animals which we kindly ask you send to school on your child's assigned day. All are welcome to Church Morning. Please see more details below.
We are grateful for your commitment to your child’s Catholic preschool education. Our ongoing partnership will make for the most rewarding year for your child and family. Let us continue to pray for all those in need of our prayers, especially those impacted by natural disasters like Hurricane Ian. May St. Michael the Archangel protect you and your loved ones always.
Joyfully in Christ,
Lisa Ciesla
Preschool Director
St. Michael, keep us safe day and night, give us courage, strength, and might. Amen

IMPORTANT UPDATES & REMINDERS
Realm Communication
LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITY HEALTHY!
If a child develops one or more of the following symptoms: congestion or runny nose, headache, fever or chills, cough, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, diarrhea, or vomiting, families have three options:
- stay home for 5 days, and return wearing a mask for 5 more days, OR
- get a negative COVID test, which must be submitted to the preschool office (photo of the home test), OR
- get a note of alternate diagnosis from the pediatrician
COVID GUIDANCE UPDATED – On September 6, the Childcare/Preschool COVID Toolkit was updated.
PLEASE REMEMBER, that by sending a child to school, parents are affirming that their child is in good health and recognize that if there is any doubt, they should keep their child home. We thank you in advance for monitoring your child's health daily and for your understanding as we work to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our entire preschool community.
Asthma & Allergies
If your child has asthma and/or chronic allergies, which typically include a frequent cough or runny nose, we will need a note from the doctor documenting the alternate diagnosis for the COVID-like symptoms.
We thank you for your continued support in adhering to our health protocols to keep our community safe.
Driving and Parking Lot Safety
- Please drive with caution, and adhere to the posted speed limit and directional signs while in our parking lot
- Remember that you must park in a marked spot
- Handicap parking spots are ONLY for those with a disability placard and/or plate
- Hold your child's hand in the parking lot during arrival and dismissal
- No curbside parking is permitted, even with a driver remaining in the car as this creates traffic and safety hazards
- Please never leave children in the car without adult supervision
Safe & Healthy Snacks
Allergy Sensitive Snack
- Children will bring their own snack to school. We ask that it be just one or two healthy items that can be easily enjoyed by your child.
- Snacks may NOT contain peanuts/nuts or peanut/nut products. This includes foods that have been produced/processed in a plant with nut products.
- Avoid potential choking hazards - all grapes, cherries, and mini tomatoes need to be cut in half. Popcorn, hard candy, or sugary snacks are not permitted.

MORE TIME TO PRAY, PLAY, & LEARN!
DISCOVERY DAY FRIDAY BEGINS OCT. 7 - REGISTER TODAY!
If your child just can’t get enough preschool fun, and loves to learn, explore, and experience all preschool has to offer, Discovery Day is the program for them!
Led by our incredible Miss Susan, lead teacher and resident licensed Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP), Discovery Days are thematic-based units designed to reinforce your child’s love of learning. We encourage students to wonder, explore, problem-solve, and most of all, have fun! The thematic activities will focus on literacy, art, religion, music, math, and science. Teachers will provide an outline of each class including concepts, vocabulary, and discussion questions so there can be a carryover from school to home.

MUSIC & MOVEMENT
Hello, Preschool families!
October is one of my FAVORITE months of the whole school year! The hot days of summer melt away and cool, crisp weather arrives! We will be singing and dancing about Fall, Halloween, leaves, pumpkins, spiders, and how God made animals-just to name a few.
Here are a few songs that we will learn together in music this month. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like me to send you a song! I am happy to share any of my songs with you.
Happy Fall and God bless you and your families!
