Newsletter Week 1 Term 4

St Joseph's School Waipukurau 20th October 2021

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia ora koutou

A very warm welcome back to school for the start of term 4.

I hope everyone had a restful and joy filled holiday.

We have a busy term ahead of use with two school camps, weekly swimming lessons for each class, school athletics, school photos, leavers Mass, and Prize giving. The students will also be having a mission day at the end of the year, as part of their inquiry unit they will design and make a product to sell to raise funds for a local charity.

Last term we celebrated Catholic Schools Day on the 29th of September. We started the day by celebrating with a liturgy and all the students took part in a school house quiz. This involved weaving through some cones, throwing up a ball and catching it, and then answering a question. Blessed Susanne Aubert House won the quiz by answering all 25 questions correctly first and then they had to perform a victory song. It was a lot of fun and it was awesome to see the older students supporting the younger students. What a fabulous way to celebrate our Special Character.

Congratulations to Mrs Chesswas who has been appointed to cover Miss Hamilton Maternity Leave next year. The staff are looking forward to working with you again.

Conragrtualtions to Riley Winchester who received Player of the Game at the Ross Sheild and I want to also mention Jonty Kohleis for his positive attitude and support for his team although he had to watch from the sidelines due to his broken foot. Great effort both boys for making the Ross Sheild team.

School Athletics Under Level 2 COVID

This year due to being in Level 2, unfortunately, parents will not be allowed to attend the school athletics, as we are not allowed to exceed 100.

Students can come to school in their PE uniform and house T-shirt. Athletics will start at 10.30 am. They will need a good packed lunch and a drink bottle of water.
