From the Principal
Dear Copeland Families,
Thanks to all who attended our Dance Across Texas. It was cuteness overload to see our precious Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students dancing their hearts out. We are so thankful to have two great coaches, Coach Kurtz and Coach Tucker, leading our awesome PE program.
Copeland Staff Appreciation Week will be March 7 – 11. The dates for National Teacher Appreciation Week are May 1 – 8. We choose to celebrate our staff in March here at Copeland. Thanks for taking this opportunity to let our amazing staff know how much you appreciate them. We really are blessed with the best!
On Friday, March 11th, our 3rd graders will participate in Multicultural Day. Students will receive passports and will travel to each 3rd grade classroom to learn about six different countries on this day. It is a fun learning experience for all. We couldn’t do it without our great volunteers. Thanks to all parents who have signed up to make this day a great success.
Spring break is almost here (no school March 14th – 18th), and I love springtime! I know we are all ready for some family fun time.
We have a wonderful superintendent in CFISD. Dr. Henry will again sponsor his Superintendent’s Fun Run on April 9th. It is a great family event! If you plan to attend, please register here and list Copeland as your school. There is a sleep-in pass available for $10 if you are unable to make it. All funds raised are for student scholarships through the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF).

Car Rider Procedure Reminders
We would like to remind you of a few car rider line procedures that we have in place to ensure the safety of all our children. We load and unload many students each day, and safety is our top priority.
- Please do not make a U-turn at the intersection of Scenic Canyon Lane and Mossy Ridge Lane. Please go to the end of the line.
- Please do not drive through the first lane. This lane is for daycare vans, daycare cars, and “red tag” car riders. Our “red tag” car riders are students in our Early Childhood Special Education program.
- Please do not park and walk your child(ren) up to the entrance of the school. You should only park if you need to come into the front office.
- Please do not let your child(ren) out on the street to walk across the parking lot to the front door. This is not safe.
- In order to keep the car line flowing, please do not stop or let your child(ren) out of the car, until directed to do so by a staff member.
- Our school day begins at 8:00 a.m. Staff members unload cars from 7:40-8:00 a.m. After 8:05 a.m., students will be marked tardy.
Art - Amy Krengel
Students in grades K-1st need to bring in one to two brown paper bags (grocery size) for art. If you have more to donate-great.
Watch for details about Art to Remember which is an opportunity for you to purchase items featuring your child’s art.
Music - Claudia Vigil
P.E. Twitter Page Fun - Coach Kurtz & Coach Tucker
Kaylee McArthur & Amy Roberson Counselors
Cypress-Fairbanks ISD will be administering the Texas English Language Proficient Assessment System (TELPAS) Reading Test and Listening & Speaking Test to limited English proficient (LEP) students in grades 2-12. The TELPAS Reading Test and Listening & Speaking Test are designed specifically for LEP students. Students who meet these criteria will take the TELPAS Reading Test on March 7th or 8th and the TELPAS Listening & Speaking Test on March 10. Please make sure your student brings their computer and charger to school on those test dates.
5th Gr. Parents,
On Feb. 24th your student was given their 6th grade Middle School Registration form for the 2022-2023 school year. Please take a moment to review this information with your 5th grader to select next year's electives. Registration forms are due by March 3rd to their homeroom teacher.
Librarian - Jennifer Buchert
Registrar's Office - Attendance
Dear Copeland Parents,
Transportation changes must be requested by 2:45 p.m., and the latest early pick-up time is 2:45 p.m. as well. Thank you for honoring this, as there are many moving parts at the end of each school day.
Instruction begins at 8:00 a.m. daily, and students who arrive at 8:05 a.m., or later, are marked tardy (unless they are bus riders who are never marked tardy). Please do not drop off your student if the front door is closed. Parents or guardians must sign their child in at the front office if they arrive after 8:05 a.m. Thanks for your cooperation.
If your child is absent from school, please send a signed note or a doctor’s note (if available) at the time the student returns to school.
Excuse notes must be provided to the school within three (3) days from the date of the absence, or consecutive absences.
A phone call and/or email will not excuse the student’s absence.
Students with excessive absences and/or tardiness will be referred to the district’s truancy officer.
Every day counts!

Quarantine and Isolation
- Students who show symptoms of COVID-19 at school will be evaluated by the nurse and will be excluded in accordance with CFISD communicable disease exclusion criteria.
- Students or staff members who have been in close contact (within 3-6 feet of someone for 15 minutes or more) with someone who has COVID-19 should consider quarantining unless fully vaccinated or recovered from a COVID-19 illness within the last 90 days. See “Recommended Close Contact Quarantine Protocol”.
- Students or staff members who test positive for COVID-19 must meet established criteria as stated in the “Isolation and Readmission Criteria Protocol” before returning to school or work.
