Colts,
This first week of April was definitely a busy one here at CMS. We had a nice showcase/open house night led by our amazing students. The evening included some delicious samplings of various ethnic foods from students involved in our annual Seventh Grade Heritage Project. On Wednesday, GCISD hosted our annual Special Olympics in which our students competed. It was a day to remember full of competition and fellowship for many of our Colts. In addition to those events, we had an AVID field trip to Texas Wesleyan University, an extended lunch day for our staff and students to give them an opportunity to enjoy some extra sunshine, and opportunities for various members of our Cheer and Dance teams to serve our neighbors at CES with their PTA fun run.
To round out this week's celebrations, yesterday our Honors Band students found out they were invited to perform at the Band Midwest Clinic, an International Band and Orchestra conference, which hosts over seventeen-thousand professionals in Chicago. In the 72 years of the conference's existence, there were more submissions this year from all over the country than ever before. Our Honors Band is one out of only four other middle schools in the country who will perform at the Band Midwest Clinic in Chicago this December! This honor is a direct reflection of our dedicated staff, like Ms. Jones and Mr. Prescott, and students here at CMS. All of Colt Nation is extremely proud of our programs and the constant work and determination we see daily at CMS. It is a great week to be a Colt!

This week Kevan Robinson honored 8th grader Nic Cunningham. He is an awesome student and leader. Nic dominates his 6th period with hard work, great knowledge of history, and a wonderful attitude.
Way to go Nic!
STAAR Testing
Since we will have a closed campus on testing days, lunch deliveries/drop offs won't be allowed. Students will not have access to their cell phones or be able to pick up a lunch by attendance due to the restricted testing areas and their varied lunch times. Lunches should either be purchased from the cafeteria or brought from home. Students will be allowed to have water with a lid, but no snacks during the time they are testing.
Thank you for your assistance.
