Illinois Assessment of Readiness for 3rd-8th
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) is the state assessment and accountability measure for Illinois students enrolled in a public school district. IAR assesses the New Illinois Learning Standards Incorporating the Common Core and will be administered in English language arts and mathematics to all students in grades 3-8.
All students in grades 3-8 will take the IAR. Please make every effort to have your student in school on the testing days. The schedule of dates and times are listed below and linked here.

Kindergarten Registration
Wednesday, March 29, 2023
5:30-6:30 p.m.
BGS Cafeteria
Do you have a child eligible for kindergarten for the 23-24 school year? If so, please plan to attend the upcoming registration night.
Your child must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2023.
Registration will be 5:30-6:30 in the grade school cafeteria.
An informational meeting will be held at 6:00 pm.
This evening will be for PARENTS ONLY. Parents will be asked to fill out all registration packets and pay registration fees that evening.
Kindergarten registration fee is $55 cash or check made payable to BGS.
Parents will sign up for kindergarten screenings, to be held on Friday, April 21, 2023.
Before and aftercare (BAC) fees will be explained at the meeting. However, registration for a single child is $25.
If you are unable to attend the registration night please contact the grade school office at 309-446-3366, for registration papers and to sign up for a screening time.

A Note from Our Counselor
The theme for March will be problem solving and building coping skills toolboxes through classroom lessons, group sessions, and individual sessions. We will also focus on test taking strategies leading up to the IAR testing for 3rd-8th graders.

Attendance Reminders
On time attendance is important and necessary for learning. The school day starts at 8 a.m. Students arriving after this time will be marked tardy. If your child will be absent due to an appointment or is ill, please notify the office by 8:00 a.m. each day.
