Try-Outs!
Try-Outs will be held on
Monday, July 20, 2020 and Tuesday, July 21, 2020 from 8:00 am - 10:00am.
You have to be present for try-outs to participate on the team.
There are 18 spots to fill on the team, due to uniforms.
We will make the necessary cuts after the second practice, if needed.
We will take the first two weeks of practice to make decisions regarding JV and V positions.
Required Paperwork!
Every Edmond athlete is required to complete all the forms before try-outs or practice.
*Your athlete will not be able to participate if these are not completed beforehand!*

Sports Physicals
Please bring a copy of both sides of the physical to the first day of try-outs/practice.
Always keep a copy for yourself as your student progresses through different sports.
You can print off the physical using the link below and take it to the doctor for them to complete and sign clearing your athlete for participation.

COVID-19 Liability Form
All athletes and parents are required to sign the "Assumption of Risk and Waiver Liability Relating to Athletic Participation and COVID-19" form.
This form will need to be printed off and signed by the parent/guardian and the athlete.
Please turn these in the first day of try-outs/practice with your sports physical form.

Required Equipment!
- Glove
- Batting Gloves
- Bat
- Batting Helmet
- Softball Equipment Bag
- Water Bottle (Due to COVID-19, we CANNOT provide a water jug for refills)
- Royal Blue Socks (purchase after first practice)
- Royal Blue Visor (purchase after first practice)
Do not purchase a visor or socks prior to tryouts/first practice.
We recommend that athletes DO NOT share equipment or water bottles due to COVID-19. Catchers gear will be provided by school and will be sanitized after each use. If you are a catcher and have your own gear, please bring it to practice to make sure it is approved by the OSSAA.
The school will issue belts, game jerseys, game pants, practice jerseys, and practice pants.
Each athlete will be required to keep up and wash issued equipment. If equipment does not return to coaches on check in day, student school accounts will be charged.
Athletes may use their own pants; however, it has to match school uniform colors and style.
*Pants are light grey and cropped, the ones that hit at the knee.*
Required Equipment Purchases:
Athletes will have to purchase a visor from the school upon acceptance to the team.
(Usually About $5)
Athletes will have to purchase their own socks as well. We suggest the ones listed below.

Workout Tips!
To help you get acclimated to the hot Oklahoma weather please start to spend sometime outside and start drinking lots of water.
Spending Time Outside
(about 1-2 hours outside a day)
Stretching:
Use the following link to help guide the stretching.
Stretch these areas every night before bed time.
- Shoulders
- Arms
- Hamstrings/Quads
- Calves
- Lower Back
Go for a walk or jog:
- Always stretch before and after a jog!
- Conditioning is very important in softball; therefore, go for a small jog or walk in your neighborhood.
- Try to do this as much as possible (like everyday)
Catching and Throwing:
- Start throwing and catching the ball.
- Remember to practice good form when you throw.
- Beginner
- More Advanced
- If you are a pitcher or catcher start practicing your techniques and form.

Batting:
- Side soft toss - have someone in your family toss you a softball to hit.
- Off the tee - set up a tee and get about 50-75 reps in a day.
- Go to the batting cages - Check to see which ones are open while maintaining the CDC COVID-19 guidelines.
- Practice your swing - just step outside and start practicing your swing and form.

We will have players who range from beginner to tournament league pros. Therefore, please remember that not every player is at the same level and that is OKAY!
Every player will be coached in a group and individually. Middle school is about the foundation and correcting technique and form so they can proceed on to the next level and be confident in their skills.

Head Coach
I teach Math at Summit MS. This year, I will be teaching PreAlgebra for 8th Grade. I am happily married to my husband Nathan and I have a 5 year old furbaby named Chloe.
I have coached softball, boys basketball, and baseball during my career as a teacher/coach.

I am a geography teacher at Summit middle school and this year I will be teaching in the sixth grade!
