Mrs. Walters News
Hello Bushnell Families~
First, a note of sincere gratitude! Our fundraising efforts pulled in nearly $12,000 for us to use throughout the year to enrich our students' Bushnell experience. I'll be meeting with our Building Leadership Team to discuss how we should spend these dollars. One exciting and new room in our building is the Sensory Room. We will be using some of the funds to purchase items for this space to assist students who may need time to calm down, take a break, or even just have some fun! We will keep everyone updated when we purchase tings using this money. Again- THANK YOU!
Bushnell has a group of dedicated parents who chose to form a PTO! Check out their Facebook page here. Be sure to 'like' and 'follow' to keep updated. Currently, there are some conference dinners for next week you can help out with if you'd like!
Parent/Teacher conferences are next week! Please make sure to sign up for a time slot with your child’s teacher(s). Sign ups have been emailed out! Conferences can help develop a successful partnership between parents and teachers, an important aspect of your child's academic and social achievement. I hope you all can find time to attend to hear all the amazing things that your child has been doing so far this year.
It was a great Homecoming and Spirit week! Thank you to everyone who brought a little extra spirit this week with our dress up days! It certainly was a fun and entertaining week.
Do your kids (or YOU) want LIONHEART swag? See below for t-shirts and hoodies you can purchase to remind them of this special presentation!
We will celebrate Halloween at school on Monday, October 31. Classrooms will be having individual cider and donut parties so be on the look out for that information coming home from your child’s teacher. We will also host our Halloween parade outside (weather permitting). The parade will start at 1:00 pm. More details will be shared later!
Our Lost and Found is already overflowing! Feel free to stop in at the office and we can help you look for lost items- especially coats and hoodies!
School picture retakes will be Thursday, October 20th.

LAS Library Media Services Important Information
At Lowell Area Schools, all parents have the ability to review and/or restrict the access their children have to literature through our libraries. We do not limit the right of a parent to restrict access for their children in any way and we have effective procedures in place to support parents who wish to exercise this right. We are very fortunate to have a well-developed, high quality and extremely well -run media center program providing our students access to an outstanding library and a wide variety of high-interest materials to support literacy and learning for all students. This is not an easy task as we serve nearly 4,000 families all having varying views about what should and should not be available through our libraries.
There are a number of safeguards in place that allow parents to be as involved as they would like to be in the selection of materials for their student.
If a parent has concerns about what their student has access to through the library media center, the parent can simply email the school librarian, Christine Beachler, and request that a restriction be placed on their student’s account. Mrs. Beachler’s email address is cbeachler@lowellschools.com. Restrictions can be applied by book title, topic, genre or even theme. You can find more information regarding our library media center program at the Library Media Services page (click here) of our website. There is also a Frequently Asked Questions document with lots of specific information linked here.
