Sycamore Community Schools
December 2019
Thank you, Sycamore Family!
On behalf of the Sycamore Community Schools Board of Education, students, and staff, I want to thank the community for their overwhelming support for Issue 18. Passage of this bond issue will allow the district to deliver the educational environments that our students deserve.
Our vision for the future includes learning environments that are adaptive and easily support a broad spectrum of learning styles and innovative practices. These projects will impact every grade level and every corner of our district not only for our current students, but future Aviators who haven’t been born yet, teachers we have not met, and a community we cannot entirely envision.
The district is humbled and inspired by the strong turnout for this school election. We are grateful to have a community that is so highly engaged in the work of the district. Your voice has been heard and the district is excited to move forward as a unified community.
Three years ago, we started a journey to engage our students, staff, families, and community in our Master Facility Plan process. While we have come so far already, there is still much work to be done, including designing and constructing our facilities and keeping our financial commitment to our community.
On November 20, the Board of Education passed a resolution to inform the Hamilton County Auditor to not collect more than 2.4 mills for this bond issue. This resolution also starts the process to issue bonds and ensure that the district takes advantage of 40-year-low interest rates. Please be assured that we will continue to do everything possible to guarantee that your hard-earned tax dollars will be spent in the most cost-effective manner possible.
Our design process is already underway and will continue to involve students, staff, and members of our vibrant community. Similarly to the previous three-year commitment of open engagement, the district will provide opportunities for those who want to be involved in the near future. In the meantime, we encourage you to check for updates on our website: goav.es/masterfacilityplanning.
We take seriously our responsibility, as a strong school district, to keep our communities strong. Thank you again to our community for coming together in this display of support and commitment to students for generations to come.
Immensely Grateful,
Frank A. Forsthoefel
Superintendent
