Acton Weekly Update: 2/9/18

FTCSC Hedgehog Focus

1. Accepts LEARNING as the fundamental purpose of our district and therefore are willing to examine all practices in light of their impact on learning.

2. Is committed to working together to achieve our collective purpose. We cultivate a COLLABORATIVE CULTURE through development of high-performing teams.

3. Assesses our effectiveness on the basis of RESULTS rather than intentions. Individuals, teams, and schools seek relevant data and information and use that information to promote continuous improvement.

Nuts and Bolts

Reminder: Haley Mulligan will be sending out data sheets for teacher review by Monday, Feb. 12. The teacher may dispute the determination. Deadline for "sign-off" and disputes is Friday, Feb. 16. If you disagree with a placement, please explain and describe that child and why they would or would not be a good fit for that placement. We know there is not a place to attach student work, but if you feel strongly about a child, you can always send copies of student work to Anna Cook. The committee will reconvene to discuss the "disagreements."

The Franklin Township Education Foundation (F*TEF) announces its 2018 Spring Grant program.

Please review the attachment for guidelines and application requirements.

FTEF Application

All applications are due by Monday - April 9, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. for consideration.

No proposals will be accepted after the deadline. Our Grants Committee will review each application and may request additional information from the applicant, school administrators or curriculum coordinators, if needed.

Slight change for this week. Due to Matt's schedule we are swapping PLC and PD this week.

Tuesday: PLC- Team Focus. Don't forget to fill out the Google Classroom Agenda Feedback form.

Wednesday: Mini Lesson planning as a team. Meet in the LGI room with all your needed materials. Matt has a quick mini-lesson activity before you start your planning.

Sped Update: Our transition for Lindsey into first grade will start this week. We have a sub (Lisa Lawrence) in first grade M-W. Lindsey will start in the classroom on Thursday Megan Davis will begin with us on Thursday. However, she will not be with us everyday. We will be sharing her with Kitley until the transition can be completed. On days when she is not at Acton, Lisa Lawrence will be covering for her. We've also had student placement changes so we should be back to our normal special education schedule. The only exception is that Amanda Smith will remain with a first grade friend in the mornings and our RA intervention teacher will be covering Amanda's morning schedule.
