Upcoming MAP and IReady Testing Information
This spring your child (3rd-5th) will be taking the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) Grade-Level Assessments in order to evaluate your student’s progress toward the Missouri Learning Standards. Grade-Level Assessments provide important information that contributes to decisions concerning individual students, groups of students, and educational programs. Assessments are given in the subject areas of Communication Arts (grades 3-8), Mathematics (grades 3-8), and Science (grades 5 and 8). Our students in grades K-5 will also be taking the Spring Benchmark for iReady in both reading and writing.
Please help us by having your students to school on time if it is a testing day for their grade level as testing will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m. Testing will take place on these days for most of the day. If possible, please do not schedule appointments on these days; we would greatly appreciate it. The testing sessions will be split throughout the entire school day to give students needed breaks between sessions. The image below shows the dates of testing with grade levels involved on each date.
SCE Water Day Needs Parent Volunteers
Our classrooms having been working all year towards a classroom reading goal. The classes are keeping track of how many minutes are being read at home. If the class meets the goal, the class will be invited to Water Day. Students who do not complete at home reading will NOT be included in the class invite because they haven't contributed to the goal.
We are looking for parent volunteers to help run the Water Day stations on Friday, May 26. If you are an approved volunteer, please consider signing up. The link below will allow you to sign up. Sign ups will close on Friday, May 5. SCE will be in touch with volunteers with additional information by Friday, May 12. Visitors will not be able to attend Water Day. Only those who volunteer will attend.
Donations Needed
Teacher Appreciation Week is just around the corner! Please help us show our teachers and staff how much we appreciate them. We will be collecting the following items:
- Lottery scratch off tickets
- Gift cards
- K cups
SCE Students Compete in Global Amazing Shake
The Amazing Shake is a competition that challenges students to learn the soft skills needed to introduce themselves, give a proper handshake, work the room, converse and think on their feet through a variety of challenges. At Stone Creek, we teach these valuable skills to set our students up to be more successful in their future.
March 17-19, four students from Stone Creek Elementary traveled to the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, GA to compete in the Global Amazing Shake Competition. This year over 7,400 students across the world competed in the Amazing Shake Competitions in their schools. 262 students earned the chance to compete at the Global Amazing Shake at the Ron Clark Academy. Students competing ranged from 4th grade to 8th grade.
We are very proud of our students for placing in the following positions:
Theodore Holland-66th
Gabby Morris-108th
Evie Edrington-140th
Eva Schulte-201st

News from our Nurses Office
Happy Spring! Parents are always trying to get their children to eat more fruits and vegetables. One tip is to keep fruits and vegetables washed, cut up and ready to go in the refrigerator. Another is to offer them frequently with meals and as snacks.
As Spring is approaching, it is time to be monitoring your child for allergy symptoms. Sometimes it takes several weeks for their allergy medicines to start working. We cannot give medicine at school without physician and parental authorization. Here is a link for allergy information from Children's Hospital St. Louis. https://www.stlouischildrens.org/health-resources/pulse/springing-ahead-allergies
As school nurses, we see and treat a large variety of health needs every day. However, we are unable to diagnose. We can assess, provide first aid, and of course provide emergency care if the situation arises. We are also responsible for caring for students with many different chronic conditions and health needs throughout the school day. We appreciate the trust you put in us each day in caring for your children. If you have a question about a possible illness, previous injury, or other health issue that has presented itself at home, we recommend you consult with your child’s pediatrician office. Having us assess injuries, rashes, or illness symptoms that occur at home will likely come with a recommendation to see or call your pediatrician’s office. A caveat to this is if your child did sustain a minor injury, or isn’t feeling 100%, you can give us or their teacher a heads up with an email or phone call to let us know they may be in discomfort.
We will continue to communicate health issues that need further attention or that we believe you should know about. We truly love caring for your children and hope that it brings some peace of mind knowing we are here for them.
Child Center Lessons
"The Child Center Lessons will be April 12, 13, 18th-20. If you would prefer your child to opt out from the lessons please fill out the attached document and return to the counselor."
