Combating Harmful Peer Interactions
On Wednesday May 4 at 5:30 PM, Wilder’s School Counseling department will be hosting a virtual forum on the topic of combatting harmful peer interactions. This event is open to all Wilder families and students!
During this event, we will discuss conflict resolution, bullying, social media concerns, and how families can partner with our team to combat these issues.
Attached is a flyer with the link to the event. We hope to see you all there 😊
Volunteers Needed!
Summer School Programs
Please see the message below from Dr. Kateresea Ford, School Counseling Director-
Middle School Summer Remediation
Parents/Guardians will receive communication from Teachers and School Counselors if students are required to participate in this pathway. Students currently in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade will need to enroll in a course recovery class during the 2021-2022 school year who did not pass one of their core academic classes. Please know that course recovery classes are only available to students who need to repeat the course. These classes are not an option for students taking the class for initial credit (i.e., first time or for a higher grade). Transportation will be provided. The registration window opens on April 11, 2022. Courses are only open to current Henrico County Public Schools students.
OPTIONAL: BRIDGE TO ALGEBRA - Rising 7th and 8th graders This program is designed to support students who completed Accel 6/7 or Accel 7/8 and are enrolled in Algebra I for the upcoming school year. Students complete assignments virtually but have access to live support via office hours with teachers. Additional information regarding registration is available in the HCPS Middle School Counseling Departments.
Creative Writing/Public Speaking Students will have the opportunity to explore the techniques used in writing short stories, plays, and poetry. The course will also focus on public speaking skills, and exploration of dramatic skills such as improvisation, gestures, and voice projection. Students will have the opportunity to write scenes, dialogue, and speeches. (Please note: This class is not for credit and will not be added to the student’s academic transcript.)

Attendance
It is important that students attend school each day and arrive on time to ensure they are receiving all of their instruction. Please see below for important information regarding attendance.
· School starts at 8:05 each day. Students are considered tardy if they arrive at 8:30 or later.
· Notify the school by calling the front office at (804) 515-1100 if your child will be absent from school. If we are not notified of an absence, your child will be marked absent unexcused automatically.
· Our attendance team regularly monitors student attendance. Families of students with five or more unexcused absences will be required to meet to develop a support plan for attendance.
· If there is anything we can do to support your efforts in making sure your child is at school every day, please reach out to your child’s school counselor or our Family Advocate, Mrs. Clarke!
