Mrs. Foulk's News
We had almost 100% of students turn in their homework this week. Way to go!! Because this is a new process, there are some things we will learn along the way. Here are two things worth mentioning:
-Please do not have students hit "enter" after each problem. They simply type in their answer and then hit "submit" at the very end.
-Have students write their first AND last name. We have several duplicate names.
The students have been shown where the "extra" paper copies of the homework are kept. We have a blue folder labeled "homework" that they can get a paper copy at any time throughout the week. Because we are trying to instill responsibility in our third graders, it is an expectation that they get the paper copies if they need them.
Our next unit will focus on the skills of rounding, estimation and addition/subtraction within 1,000.
Students have begun collecting ideas for their memoir. There were some really interesting and touching memories that came from special objects and food traditions.
We will be using the reading strategies of "Determining Importance" and "Synthesizing" to understand non-fiction texts that we are reading.
We will be learning about the three branches of government. Students are expected to know the names of the branches and also what responsibilities they have.
