Your PSAT Score Report Is An Important Tool
On October 3, over 200 Crosby Scholars learned how to prepare for the PSAT by participating in a Crosby Scholars Program webinar hosted by The Princeton Review. If you took the PSAT/NMSQT on October 11, you'll receive your 2017 PSAT/NMSQT scores in mid-December.
Your school will receive a copy of your scores and will make them available to you. Colleges do not receive your PSAT/NMSQT scores. Student Search Service® is a free program that helps students connect to colleges and nonprofit scholarship agencies. It does not share scores.
You'll receive an email once your scores are ready. Once you receive your confirmation email, you may follow the instructions to create your College Board account. Then use the access code to view your scores. So, if you did not receive your scores at school, you may receive them online.
It is important to understand the information presented on your score report and how to use your PSAT score report to prepare for the SAT. Click here to view a score report video after your scores have been released. Ask your school counselor if your high school is hosting a score interpretation session.
Your junior year score report will indicate if you qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Scores are automatically sent to the National Hispanic Recognition Program, National Scholarship Program, and the Telluride Seminar Scholarships.
WOW! 1,215 Juniors attended Junior Academy this school year!
This year, all Crosby Scholars Juniors learned various ways to begin preparing for college. During the College Admission 101 workshop, we discussed graduation requirements, minimum admissions requirements for all UNC System Schools, standardized testing preparation, what colleges seek in an applicant, and how to pay for college.
Finally, we emphasized the importance of using research tools to reduce over 3,700 college options to build YOUR target list and to pick the BEST college for YOU! Take time to create this list as you will be required to submit it to the Crosby Scholars Program in the spring. So, get working on it and remember to check out some of the resources below:

Planning your College Visits
As you are confirming your target list of colleges, it is important to visit college campuses before you begin applying. Taking the time to go on official tours with information sessions will allow you to determine whether the school is a good fit for you and if you can see yourself living there for four years. It is better to rule out a school before you apply, than to spend time applying, pay an application fee and then realize you don't really like the campus environment. Further, making your own college decisions (with assistance from your parents or trusted adults) will make you feel confident about your future.
While visiting college campuses as a junior, you may fulfill the college fair/college visit requirement. You also may fulfill this requirement by attending a college fair at your high school.
Junior Program Requirements
Here is a quick look at your High School Program requirements:
· Attend one Junior Academy, hosted in August and September 2017
· Complete at least two hours of community service by January 31, 2018 (five hours is recommended for high school students)
· Attend one Mandatory Rising Senior Meeting in May 2018
· Speak with four admissions reps by attending one college fair, or by visiting four college campuses by October of your senior year.
· Do not receive out-of-school suspension
· Continue to participate in It’s My Call/It’s Our Call random drug screening program at your school
· Remain enrolled in a Forsyth County public school and graduate from a Forsyth County public school
· Fulfill the terms of the Partnership Agreement
A list of junior year program requirements is always posted in your Crosby Scholars Student Portal. Remember, juniors cannot re-enroll in the program, so make sure you are aware of deadlines, and plan accordingly.
Parents can monitor their junior's Crosby Scholars student portal, view announcements and events, and confirm if their student has fulfilled program requirements by logging in to their Crosby Scholars parent portal. If you need assistance accessing your parent portal, please email highschool@crosbyscholars.org.
