Kirk Fenton News

29th March 2019

Dear Parents / Carers,

This week of the year always seems like the start of spring in earnest. As we celebrate Mothering Sunday this weekend, the children (and the Friends of Kirk Fenton) have been preparing to surprise their mums and thinking about all those things that their mums do for them. As a mum of four I understand all to well that our school would not be the place it is without the support of our parents and the work that mums put in before the children even get to school each day, so thank you - we do appreciate it.

We have had another very busy week in school. The Year 6 children finished their bikeability successfully with every child passing and they also had the first visit from the high schools to start preparing for their transition. Children from Year 5 and 6 have taken part in a swimming festival and several children across school took part in the regional cross country finals in Dalby forest. As always they represented the school admirably showing respect and perseverance.

Our younger children in Early years invited their mums into school to enjoy a creative time with them and 3 children from Year One took part in a maths event as part of the Star Alliance. Well done to all of them.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Karen Williams

Early years and year 1 playground overhaul

We have had quite a few volunteers already for April 6th, when we will be clearing and jetwashing the playground. Thanks to those who have already come forward to sign up.

The rebuild stage of the project will be happening during the Easter holidays and we are now looking for volunteers to help on the following dates:

- Friday 26th April: painting and digging day

- Saturday 27th April: Dads' DIY day (Mums are also welcome on this day!)

- Sunday 28th April: Finishing touches day

If you are able to help please do give us your names ASAP. Although we will welcome last minute volunteers too, it is reassuring to get names in advance and to be able to organise enough tools for the workforce. On that note, please also get in touch if you can donate or lend any paintbrushes, rollers, trays or fine-grade sandpaper. Or turn up on the day with cakes for the volunteers :-)

As always, please get in touch with any queries or opinions:-
