Quist ROYALS Weekly News
April 7, 2023
Hello ROYALS!
We’re so proud of our Quist learners for their resiliency and determination. Our students came to school this week engaged in learning and did a great job focusing during CMAS testing. Thank you to our staff and our students!
We are excited to introduce our new Assistant Principal for the 2023-24 school year, Mr. Marcus Mares. Marcus is a Colorado Native who grew up in Denver and Adams county. He is a first-generation college graduate who studied Communication and Psychology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Currently, Marcus has earned his Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Critical Pedagogy, and also holds a special education license. Additionally, Marcus is completing his Educational Leadership graduate program at Regis University.
Marcus has over a decade worth of experience working with high school and middle school students in education, most recently as the Director of an Affective Needs program in the Denver Public Schools district. He is passionate about creating a safe and supportive environment for student growth and well-being.
Marcus is excited to join the Rodger Quist Middle School team and is committed to building strong relationships with the school community. Please join us in welcoming Marcus Mares to our school community. If you would like the opportunity to meet Marcus in person, please attend the Parents' Informational Meeting on April 11 at 5:30 p.m.
If you are unable to attend the Quist Advisory Committee meeting on Tuesday evening, we still want your input about the upcoming Principal interviews. Please take a few minutes to complete the Quist Principal Interview Criteria Google form to share your perspective. The form will be available until Wednesday morning at 8 a.m.
Quarter 3 awards
We decided to do awards differently for Quarter 3 due to timing with spring break and CMAS. Students were given their awards this week during Pathways time. Congratulations to all our students for your hard work and achievements. Keep up the good work!
Fill-the-Truck
Great news! Harambe and Thornton Fire Department are joining forces this month to serve others by hosting a "Fill-the-Truck" Pathways competition. New sock donations will be collected April 11- 28th. The Pathways which collects the most new socks wins time with the Fire Department. We will have a fire truck out front on April 28th to fill it full of socks! The Fire Department will then donate the socks to help those in need in our community.
