Letter From Ms. Brito
Dear Washington Family,
I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving break and enjoyed the holiday with family and loved ones. We are now in the final weeks before Winter Break, and have a lot of exciting things happening at Washington in the month of December!
Please note, that all trimester 1 report cards are now available to view digitally through the District’s parent portal. Instead of receiving a paper copy, parents can access their child’s report card at their own leisure and convenience. After viewing online, you will be asked to digitally sign off that you have viewed your child’s report card. To be sure you can access this report card, please follow these directions for how to login. We hope this will allow parents better access to their child’s educational progress and achievement.
If you would still like to request a paper copy or are unsure of how to login, please contact the main office for assistance.
You can find the Standards Based Grading and Reporting Handbook for Grades K-5 linked here. This tool is designed to help you understand and navigate your child’s report card. You can also find more information on Standards Based Grading and Reporting on the District's website.
As always, we thank you for your partnership and hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Warm Regards,
Angie

Pizza Day - Second Semester Ordering Information
Pizza ordering for the second half of the year begins at noon on December 3rd!
WHAT: Spuntino's will deliver pizza to Washington School during lunch every Thursday. Cheese pizza will be served by-the-slice by parent volunteers. In addition to pizza Thursdays being a fun lunch it is also an important fundraiser for the school!
WHEN: Orders open 12/3 at noon and are due Sunday, 12/17 by midnight.
ADDITIONAL THINGS TO NOTE:
- After December 17th there will not be any more opportunities to sign up for pizza for the second half of the year. No late orders will be accepted in order to ensure we have an accurate pizza count.
- If ordering for more than one child, each child will need to have his/her own order.
- If you purchased pizza for a full year at the beginning of the school year, you are all set (please do not re-order for the second half)! We cannot accommodate changes in orders already placed for the full year - no changes in the number of slices can be made. You can view previous orders on the PTO website.
- To check if an order was placed correctly, please select "My Account" at the top right of your personal PTO account page, and then select "Order History" to view successful orders.
- Families can choose 1, 2, or 3 slices per student.
- If you sign your child up for pizza for the second half of the year, your child will get pizza from Thursday, January 11th through Thursday, June 6th.
Wildcats Give Back Holiday Gift Drive
In past years, Washington families have supported our own Wildcat community helping make a difference during the holidays to those in need.
Again this year, in addition to giving back to those in our own school community, Washington is expanding this initiative working with the Salvation Army to provide gifts for children in the larger Park Ridge community and surrounding areas.
We now have a snowman set up in the front office at Washington School. There are paper mittens surrounding our snowman that contain a wish or a need for a single child. Each item is valued at $25-$50 and includes toys, games, clothes etc. We ask that all gifts be brought back to Washington’s front office by Monday, December 11th .
We invite you to come to the front office and Lea or Michelle can assist in assigning you as many mittens you would like. Cash and or/gift cards will also be accepted. Please drop off at the front office and Lea or Michelle will make sure your gift goes to the right place.
Thank you for supporting our community. Wildcats Give Back!

In Line Skating is Coming to P.E.!
Dear Washington Families,
The inline skating unit for our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will begin Monday, December 4th and continue through Friday, December 15th. We encourage our students to bring their own equipment to use throughout the unit. The equipment needed includes inline skates, wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads and helmet. Students should wear tall socks to protect their legs. For those students who do not have their own equipment, it will be provided.
Students are encouraged to bring their own helmets. If a student does not own a helmet, the PE department will have a limited number of loaner helmets available. Helmets will not be shared. Any student without a helmet will not be allowed to skate.
Here is a link to Advocate Children’s Hospital Bike Helmet Purchasing Program. Helmets can be purchased at a discounted price for children and adults. Free fitting services are also available.

Happy skating!
