8th Grade Event Planning

Millburn 8th Graders of 2020
The Graduation Committee met several times, did some research, reported back, shared ideas, brainstormed, and problem solved all through Zoom.
ISBE and the IDPH recently (May 2nd) shared allowable guidance on planning these special events. Here is what this group has established:
June 1st Drive Up Graduation Celebration
**June 2nd will be used as a "Severe Weather" alternate.
What does the Drive Up Graduation at MMS Look Like?
1. Scheduled arrival times estimated for 10 graduates at a time in 15 minute segments. Timing from 3:30 to 7:30 on Monday, June 1st.
2. Families drive up towards the Main Entrance.
3. We have a stage under the canopy between the front doors and the drop off lane.
4. Families stop when they are in front of the stage.
5. The graduate hops out wearing their Cap and Gown and carrying their diploma. He or she walks to the stage. Meanwhile, family members will be able to take photos from the car.
6. Administration will read the name of the graduate. The graduate crosses the stage, stopping briefly for family to take a picture from the car. Your car will be very close to the stage.
7. Graduates then walk down the steps and head back to the car with family members and proceed out.
8. We have booked a videographer to capture each graduate, awards, remarks, edit the production and make it available to parents for free.
9. Physical distancing and face masking requirements from the state will be followed. This includes only allowing the Graduate from their car. All staff and graduates will wear masks. Graduates are allowed to remove their mask for a picture while on stage.
Members of the committee are prepared to help with decorations of the canopy area to help make the experience festive and memorable.
Staffing for the event will be kept to a minimum and will likely be limited to year long employees.
Families are encouraged to bedazzle their car for the event.
More to come! In the next week or so I will send out even more details and a Sign Up link for your desired time segment.
We will also work on coordinating a drop off of school supplies and pick up of Cap and Gown bags.

Dear 8th Grade Families,
As some of you know, we had a problem with the Dropbox account we were using to upload pictures for the video. Our apologies that there was problems. We now have a new link to upload pictures to.
*If you have already uploaded pictures we have moved all your pictures to the new link – you do not need to do anything.
If you have not uploaded pictures yet – copy and paste the link below to your browser. Upload your student’s pictures to their folder (listed alphabetically). If you have some event pictures go to the folder labeled z-misc at the end of the student folders. In this folder there are some folders for specific events. If an event is not listed please add to the end. All pictures should list individual’s names or if there are too many to list just list the event.
We need your help – we do our best to have every student in this memory video. To guarantee we don’t miss your student upload at least one to their photo folder. Keep the number of photos to 6. Please have all photos uploaded by Sunday, May 10th.
