Why I Need a Parent PowerSchool Account
If your child is doing well, you can praise his or her hard work, help set goals, ask to see work. If your child is struggling, you can look to see if the student is missing any assignments, how he or she did on the last test or quiz, or see if the teacher allows the student to redo assignments when he or she did poorly.
PowerSchool Parent Portal allows parents to sign up for weekly updates on their device. It provides ways to check attendance, grades, assignments, and provides parents a direct link to support their children.
Purpose: Norwalk-La Mirada USD is committed to cultivating wellness of our students, families and staff through a multi-tiered system of support with an emphasis on prevention and early intervention.

October- Bullying Prevention Month
National Bullying Prevention Month is a campaign in the United States founded in 2006. The campaign is held during the month of October and unites communities nationwide to educated and raise awareness of bullying prevention.
What is bullying? In order to be considered bullying, the behavior must be aggressive and include:
An imbalance of power: Kids who bully use their power- such as physical strength, access to embarrassing information, or popularity- to control or harm others.
Repetition: Bullying behaviors are ongoing over multiple occasions.
How can you help? If you see someone who is treating someone inappropriately, talk to the student to see how you can help. Talk to a trusted adult to help support you.

Preparing LCMS Students for High School A-G Requirements
LCMS prepares students with courses to support them for success in high school. One of the things that makes the public higher education systems in California the best in the world is the high standards that UCs and CSUs require for admission. The University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) require entering freshmen to complete certain courses in high school, commonly known as the "A-G requirements" because of the letter each subject area is assigned:
A. History/Social Science
B. English
C. Mathematics
D. Laboratory Science
E. Language Other than English
F. Visual/Performing Arts
G. College Preparatory Elective
Each month we will review the classes at LCMS that coordinate with their partner A-G requirements in high school.
Colleges of the Week
NLMUSD also held a 2 day virtual College and Career Fair in October to promote college readiness and provide students with opportunities to talk with admissions at many colleges.
Stay tuned each Wednesday for more colleges choices!
