The Storm Forecast

August 29, 2022

Dear parents, guardians, and students,

The first weeks of school are off to a start- thank you all for sticking with us through the kinks of school opening.

I can tell you that I absolutely love your children! What a great group of students! Thank you for sharing your family with us.

We are now in full instructional mode. Students have settled into their schedules and instruction is taking place in all classes. Over the next few weeks, you should start seeing some more activities and parent meetings pop up and we would love for you to be involved! We are also planning a get toegther for students and families, so be on the lookout for that.

As always, if you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out to us- we are here to help!

Mrs. Knapp

Principal

Make sure you set up your Focus account!

Parents- it is very important for all of you to have a parent account to Focus. This will allow you to see your students' grades in real time and download their report cards.

For instructions on how to create a parent Focus account, go to https://dcps.duvalschools.org/Page/15745

When you have completed your application for an account, email michelle.pangle@sanjoseschools.org in order to have your account activated.

Once you have created the account, please allow 48 hours for activation.

Having difficulties? Please contact michelle.pangle@sanjoseschools.org for assistance.

Grade books

There was a district issue with teacher gradebooks. DCPS is aware and is fixing the issue so teacher will be able to enter and update grades soon.

Thank you for your patience.

Download the ParentSquare app!

Parents,

Make sure that you have downloaded the ParentSquare app so you can stay up to date with what is happening at school.

You can set it up to be in any language and you can get the school calendar of events, app notifications, notifications from teachers, and more!

It is free on the app store for both Apple and Android.

School uniforms

The school uniform is still awaiting a new shipment of uniforms as of today (August 29) and expect them to arrive any day now.

In the meantime, if your student's uniform still has not arrived, please make sure that they are in a black top and uniform bottoms- they should not be wearing just any top or bottom.

Please make arrangements to pick up your student in a timely manner.

Also, please remind your students that bus behavior is an extension of school behavior. Misbehavior on the bus will result in a bus suspension.

Early release reminder

Please remember that we do not do any early release after 2:45p.m.

Is your student absent? Fill out the online form!

Is your student absent and you need to send a note? You can do this through our school website!

Go to the Parents tab and click on forms. You will see the absentee form there. You can even attach a doctor's note through this page. Easy!

The back to school crud is back...

As you know, it is not uncommon for there to be stomach viruses and other illnesses when school is back in session. This year is no different.

If your student is feeling ill, please keep them home until they have been symptom free for 24 hours for their wellbeing as well as the wellbeing of others.

You can submit an absence online and students can access schoolwork via Google Classroom and can communicate with teachers via school email.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone healthy!

FSA retakes coming up!

Parents of juniors and seniors that need to take the FSA will be receiving a letter in the next couple of days.
