Wisdom from the Queen Bee, Mrs. Hall

I am so excited to share about the Hose Positive Office Referral program. At Hose, our staff wants to promote positive behaviors. We believe our students exhibit many positive behaviors throughout the day. We really want our Hose students to know we notice, appreciate, and are proud of all their positive choices. Staff turn in Positive Office Referrals for students when they have witnessed a positive behavior. The form includes an area for the staff member to describe the positive behavior the student exhibited. During morning announcements, the student is acknowledged along with their positive behavior. The student then receives the Positive Behavior Form and a special pencil. For those who have parent consent, their picture is taken and posted on our Hose Facebook page. If you are not following our Facebook page, you should! You will get to see the proud smiling faces of our Positive Office Referral recipients

Counselor's Corner with Mrs. Tucker

There's no tired like beginning of the school year tired. If your child has fallen asleep on the way home, been grumpier than normal, or has less tolerance lately when small things go wrong, please know you are not alone. As the school year begins and their bodies and brains adjust to the new schedule and all they are learning and processing, it is common to see this. As we get further into the year, students (and teachers and parents!) are able to adjust and gain stamina. If your child continues to struggle or be overly tired, consider an earlier bedtime or adjusting their schedule to help them build stamina.

Notes from our Nurse

The Mobile Dentist is coming October 25 and 26, 2022. This is a quick and easy way to get your child seen by a dentist. There may be no cost to you if your child is insured with Healthy Start/Healthy Families! Private insurance is also accepted. Forms were sent home this week with your child. Please fill them out and return them as soon as possible and no later than Sept. 26th. You can also fill out the form online at www.MySchoolDentist.com .

Second Step

Second Step is a social and academic skill building program that all of our students participate in with their teachers each Tuesday morning. We will be including information for you at home in the newsletter each time so you can stay informed about what your child is learning. If the lesson has a home link (parent information page), we will attach it below in English and Spanish. All K-1 students have completed lessons 1-3 about learning to listen, focusing attention, and following directions. They have been learning a song about learning to focus and listen, and should be able to show you their attent-o-scope (using hands to make glasses). They have also been playing the game follow-follow (much like Simon Says) to build skills for listening carefully and following directions. We like to have fun while learning!
