Did You Know ...
Skaters need to continually work on Core Strength, Power, Balance, & Flexibility to improve their skill level.
- Core strength come from the abdominal and back muscles which work together to balance and stabilize the body while skating.
- Muscle strength is needed to gain power to skate faster, maintain longer and faster spins, jump higher, and build endurance to maintain longer practice sessions and perform longer routines.
- Many skating elements are done only on one foot. Balance is key to gain control while skating.
- Spread eagles, sit spins, split jumps, spirals, etc. are just a few skating elements that require a skater to be extraordinary flexible.
