Name and Alias
The scientific name for the bird is Sturnus Vulgaris, but the bird is more commonly known as the European starling.
Physical description
The European starling is a Stocky, black, songbird. Also has short tails, triangular wings, and long pointed bills. These birds are sometimes resented for their abundance and aggressiveness. European starlings are covered in white spots during the winter and in the summer they get this nice glossy look. They are about 8.7 inches with their wingspan and they usually travel in flocks.
Birthplace
The European starlings are originally from the European countries.
Method of Transportation
The European Starling was brought here by Shakespeare Enthusiasts in the nineteenth century.
Last seen
There is European Starlings in all fifty of the United States. There is a lot less in Hawaii and Alaska.
Crimes
Some of the negative effect of this invasive species is that steal food from the livestock of the farmers. Also, they contaminate food and water with their droppings. This can cause safety hazards to anyone who consumes these products.
