Just like last year, paper copies of report cards will not be sent home unless requested. All report cards will go live on your parent portal in PowerSchool on Wednesday, January 31st at 4:00 p.m.
Reminder that Wednesday, January 31st is a PD Day so No School. The Babysitting course will take place here at École OLPH.

Congratulations to our two Robotique teams who represented École OLPH at the NAIT First Lego League tournament this past weekend.
The girls team impressed the judges with their project and the programming of their robot. They finished in 18th place out of 56 teams for their table top performances!!!
The boys and Sarah impressed the judges with their idea of creating an application that can recognizes the quantity of water used each day. This project earned them 2nd place for their invention of a new idea. They also received 4th place out of 56 teams for their table top performances!!!
Congratulations to our two teams for all of their hard work and dedication!!!
GEEP Canada Inc. Recycling
From February 12 to March 5, 2018, École OLPH will be collecting your old computers, tvs, electronics, etc.
Please bring your items to the school during the above mentioned dates only and place them in the GEEP Canada Inc. recycle bin that will be located by the school shed in the staff parking lot.
The more items that are donated = more weight = more money for our school!

Hot Lunch Cycle #2 is now open for you to place your orders. Hot Lunches will be offered from February 7 to May 31. Canteen will only be open on hot lunch days.
Please log into your Munchalunch account to place your child/children's hot lunch order. https://munchalunch.com/
Order system will be open from January 26 to February 2. Please have your orders placed and paid BEFORE February 2.

Fall 2017 Insight Testing Results
Dear Parents,
Fall 2017 Insight testing results are now available for grade 5 and grade 8 parents to review in PowerSchool.
Your child’s Insight testing results are located in your child’s PowerSchool account under “Additional Resources” with the name of “Insight Assessment”.
As a reminder Insight is a group-administered test designed to measure cognitive abilities including reasoning, comprehension, memory, and visual/auditory processing.
If you would like to learn more about this assessment tool, please visit http://www.canadiantestcentre.com and select the Insight tab near the top of the page.

Pub Night Update:
Plans are underway for a wonderful pub night Saturday, February 24 at Average Joe's. We have a great crew of volunteers spearheading donations, tickets, and event co-ordination.
If you are participating in the pub night, please contact Kim Bizuk to arrange drop off of your donation item(s) NO LATER THAN February 9. You can text (780-231-2950) or email her (bizuk@telusplanet.net).
Bottle Drive Update:
We have 2 upcoming bottle drives planned

HOT LUNCH - Watch for Cycle 2 Sign-Up the 3rd week of January. Volunteer shifts will be available at that time.

GRADE 8 SCRABBLE NIGHT - Friday, April 13 - we are looking for a volunteer co-ordinator for this event!
M. Morin has presented this fun opportunity to us as a great way to get the grade 8's excited for the trip and raise some money at the same time! Participants will collect pledges from family, friends, and neighbours that want to sponsor them in games of Scrabble. YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT! We're going to turn the gym into a rockin' Scrabble hall, with tables of 4 players and prizes for creativity! More details will be coming out soon.

***We are beginning to compile photos for the various presentations. We need a baby- 2yrs photo and a current photo of each student that may be either submitted to me digitally in jpeg format or in a printed format that I can scan at school and then return to you.
In addition, if you have any school photos of students from kindergarten - grade 8, I’d appreciate being able to scan those.
