Morning Pre-K Newsletter
Week of March 27, 2017
A peek at Our Week:
WOOPSIE!!! Many of the children do not have an extra set of clothes in their backpacks. This is an age where we are still learning to do things for ourselves, and at school we are strongly encouraging and nurturing independence with drinks, paints, and hand washing. So please make sure there is an extra set of clothes in the back pack...accidents happen!
We will be learning about the letter O. Please bring something that starts with the /ooo/ sound. With the letter O our themes in centers are based on "outer space". This is a very popular unit with the kids, they love all the science and language they are introduced to!
We will be learning about the number 8 on Monday and Tuesday. With the number we will also be reviewing numbers 1-8 and counting, one to one correspondence counting, quantifying, patterning, sorting, sequencing, recognizing numbers and matching those numbers to their quantities. And as always, eye-hand motor coordination, following directions, and developing 1, 2, and 3 step directions.
In small groups we will be working on last names, reviewing shapes, and the nursery rhyme, Hey Diddle Diddle. Nursery Rhymes help us with rhyming, sequencing, and story retelling.
