Arts and Crafts
On December 18th my troop will be heading to the Norristown Library to make arts and crafts with kids who don't really have enough money to do a lot or really have Christmas presents on Christmas. Around the holidays we tend to do a lot more service, I guess because they need a little bit more around then. I'm really frustrated and sad because I can't go help.
Clean Up!
Our troop is going to make little bags that have travel sized toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and washcloths. We get to donate them to an organization that will go down to the city and hand out these bags to some of the homeless who are going for job interviews so they aren't so dirty and make a good first impression. Something as simple as this can help someone stay alive! That's amazing to me!
Silver Award
In Girl Scouts, there are 3 awards, the Bronze Award, the Silver Award, and the Gold Award. Each of these projects has similar standards and requirements. All of the projects require that we do a certain amount of community service. There are also different time restraints. We can only earn our Bronze Award when we're in Juniors (4-5th grade). I think that either the Silver or Gold can only be completed when we earn the award before it. I can't wait to earn the other awards!
