NISCA E-Newsletter January 2023
Make sure your Academic All American athletes are recognized
Do you have seniors on your team who excel in the pool AND in the classroom? They can be All Americans! NISCA offers opportunities for both individuals and teams who are putting in the work in the classroom as well as the pool.
We understand that getting the academic paperwork can be challenging if school is happening virtually throughout the year. We still want to recognize your seniors for all of their hard work. If you have questions or concerns about your senior's eligibility please reach out to the AA Academic Coordinator Marney Shirley (aaacademics@niscaonline.org).
The Academic All America program recognizes graduating high school seniors who have a 3.750 on a 4.0 scale (or 93.75% of the school grading scale) for 7 semester or 11 trimesters who have earned a varsity letter in your high school program (swimming, diving or water polo) during their senior year. In order to be accepted, an application must be filled out on the NISCA website, and a copy of the athletes transcript and signatures are required. For more information about the rules and requirements, see the NISCA Website under Award Programs/All America Academic.
The SwimOutlet.com Scholar Team program honors teams that are outstanding in the classroom. There are 3 levels of awards for the average team GPA after 1 semester or 2 trimesters of the current school year: Gold = 3.750-4.000, Silver - 3.500-3.749, Bronze = 3.200 - 3.499 based on a 4.0 scale. To be considered a team, the group must be Varsity level with a minimum of 12 athletes participating. In order to be considered for the Scholar Team award, an application must be filled out on the NISCA website. You can find the rules and requirements for the Scholar Team program on the NISCA website under Award Programs/Scholar Team.
For both programs, applications are FREE for current NISCA members and $40 for non-members. Fall and Winter season coaches have until March 31st to complete their entries. After that time, a $30 late fee per application is added. The final deadline for spring season coaches and all late fall and winter applications is June 15th.
Every program can have an All American, make sure yours is recognized! Fill out an Academic or Scholar Team application today.
