From the Desk of Dr. Rodriguez
During a year when our school members have experienced many changes to their routine, it's wonderful when we can give our students something they've looked forward to for so long. We were able to do just that last Friday as we gave our fifth graders their long-awaited class shirts. Every year, fifth graders are gifted with their class shirts, which they can wear on Fridays and special occasions. Students in the younger grades see this every year and look forward to the day that they receive their class shirts because it symbolizes the end of their elementary years and the beginning of their time at the Prep School. We surprised our fifth graders last Friday with a pizza, snow cone, and cupcake party in order to present their class shirts to them as well as to remind them that we know how important it is to spend time together as a cohesive unit and make memories with each other. Truth be told, I don't know who enjoyed the party more, the students or the adults -- just seeing our children smile, laugh, and sing during these trying times brought all of us so much joy. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful assistant principal, Ms. Johnson, for coordinating the event, as well as the parents who took time out of their day to help set up the party. We are truly grateful to you for allowing us to give our fifth graders a celebration they will remember for years to come.
Have a great week, and be sure to read our next edition of Friday at 4:00!
Sincerely,
Dr. Rodriguez

Celebrating Our Planet
Earth Day was recognized all around the world yesterday, and our students definitely joined in the celebrations! Teachers used Earth Day to remind their students about the importance of doing their part to take care of our planet by reducing, reusing, and recycling. Preschoolers took their annual "Nature Walk" around the school to observe some of the gorgeous plant and animal life in our neighborhood. They asked questions about their surroundings and used their five senses to record their observations. It was a great experience for our younger students as they learn to appreciate and take care of the beautiful, natural world around them.
