Harrison Park Weekly Update
May 8th, 2023
A Message from Principal Dickey
Our new Clark principal, Tara Bourland joined us last Monday, May 1st. It has been exciting to have her in the building getting to know our K-4 students and staff who will be making the move over to Clark in the fall. We will have a few opportunities to have families meet her before the end of this school year. Both Principal Bourland and I are working to help ensure both Clark and Harrison Park get off to a smooth start next year. As always, if you have any ideas or questions feel free to reach out to us.
This week we started OSAS, or state testing. We are encouraging students to get lots of rest and to come to school ready to do their absolute best. Our hope is these assessments show the growth and progress our students are making. We strive to ensure all students are making learning gains. While these assessments are not the only way to measure growth, they provide us with valuable information to improve instruction. We are asking teachers to communicate when your child will be testing so you can partner with us on this important work.
Get Ready to Celebrate our AMAZING Teachers...Stock the Staff Room!!
We are asking our community to help celebrate our teachers by helping us stock the staff room during the week of May 15-19, by bringing in prepackaged snacks and drinks to stock our staff lounge. Our goal is to fill provide enough snacks and drinks for all to enjoy for the remainder of the month. Help us by bringing any items the week of May 15 - May 19 to the office.
Some ideas to consider:
Seltzer Water
Lemonade
Coke
Diet Coke
Granola bars
Trail mix
Chocolate
Dried Fruit
Individual sized crackers/cookies/chips
Popcorn
Fruit (apples, bananas, oranges)
Being On Time Matters!
Harrison Park Families on Wednesday we had over 90 tardies in the morning. We know it can be difficult to get to school on time, and hope we can work together to improve. As a reminder Middle School begins at 8:45 and K-5 students begin at 9:00. Students can enter the building at 8:38 (6th-8th) and 8:53 (K-5). Keep in mind that being even 15 minutes late two days a week adds up to two hours a month and 18 hours a year which is the equivalent of missing three days of school.
