Thank you all for your patience as arrival and dismissal procedures are learned and worked through. Students are tardy if they are not in the building by 8:00 a.m. At that time, our staff comes in from the car rider line to begin instruction. Any student arriving after 8:00 a.m. will need to be walked in by the parent and signed in at the front desk. To avoid your child being counted tardy and to avoid missing instructional time, we recommend all car riders are dropped off between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. Our car rider line is full and the traffic moves slow the closer you arrive to 8:00 a.m. For safety purposes, please do not allow your child to get out of the car and walk across the parking lot. If you choose to park and walk your child to school prior to 8:00 a.m., please walk your child to the door at the end of the Kindergarten hallway. Furthermore, for safety purposes, we ask that no parents park in the bus ramp parking lot and walk students. We recommend students who qualify for bus services sign up to ride the bus. Students who ride the school bus will not be counted tardy. This also helps with the flow of our car rider line.

Car Rider Reminders:

  • Please have your child at school prior to 8:00 a.m.
  • If your child arrives after 8:00 a.m., please park to come inside to sign your child in
  • The car rider line flows quickly between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., the earlier you arrive the better
  • If you park to walk your child to school, please walk your child to the walker/biker door at the end of the Kindergarten hall to the far left of the building
  • If you are parking to walk your child, we recommend staying in the car rider line to drop your child off at a car rider cone- this is quicker for you and helps to keep our car rider line flowing
  • This week, we will begin dismissal at 3:05 p.m.
  • All transportation changes should be made prior to 2:00 p.m. via lamartransportation@conroeisd.net (please include a photo ID)

Biker/Walkers:

  • Biker/Walkers are dismissed in two waves. PK-1 are dismissed at 3:20 and grades 2-4 are dismissed at 3:25. Students still at the walker/biker door at 3:30 will be escorted to the front office. A parent will need to come inside to sign their child out.

Now is a great time to sign up for your parent access account. This is a wonderful way to keep up with your child's grades, attendance, etc. You can find the link to sign up at the bottom of this newsletter.

Don't forget to follow us on Facebook. We post updates, reminders, and campus happenings. @LamarElemCISD

Have an awesome week!

Safety Procedures and Priorities:

Providing a safe learning environment continues to be at the forefront of everyone’s mind. In addition to the many measures already in place such as secure vestibules and security cameras, you will notice some enhancements with the day-to-day operations. Throughout the building, all doors are required to be locked at all times. During times when students are changing classes or when large events are scheduled, doors will be actively monitored by staff. All staff and visitors must wear a visible badge at all times, with visitor badges including a time and date stamp. We will also be addressing additional requirements from the State and monitoring updates to the best practices we already follow. Safety is our ultimate responsibility and takes all of us working together.

We ask that all guests check-in at the front desk each visit. Please bring your I.D. each time you check in. Even if we recognize you, you will be asked to show your I.D. Please ring the front doorbell and someone will assist you. Please do not hold the door open for other guests to come in with you. Each guest will be assisted separately and buzzed in the front door accordingly. We ask that all visitors wear their identifying guest sticker throughout the entire campus visit. All guests will checkout in the front office as well. You will be asked to return your visitor sticker prior to leaving the building.

We are excited to have visitors here on campus! Thank you for following all safety procedures and protocols. Also, thank you for being patient while we are getting each guest checked in.

From the Counselor:

Welcome Lamar Families,

I'm Mrs. Pohl, Lamar's School Counselor. I am looking forward to a wonderful new school year!

My role on campus is to support students, teachers, and families to ensure students have a positive and successful school year.

Lamar's counseling program will coordinate resources for students throughout the year.

This form will also help me create beginning of year counseling small groups with parent permission and providing families with any resources they may need.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the form. Only one submission is necessary.

See you soon!
