Open House

The evening before the start of school for our 1st through 5th graders, we welcomed all families in to the building for our annual open house. This was a time to see new classrooms, check out Home and School League, drop off supplies and this year they were able to speak with members from various groups such as the Library, and Scouts BSA.

Also this year, parents left messages of positivity for their students and HSL provided fun in the form of a scavenger hunt, popcorn and cotton candy. What a nice way to start of the year.

Tiger Tail-gate

For the first home football game of the season, the CFCSD held a family event called the Tiger Tail-gate. Mr. Kelly, Mrs. Dougherty and Mr. Dulka ran the Silver Lake booth with the FishBowl Toss. Fun was had by all!

Kickoff Assembly

On the first Monday of the school year, when we had all of our Silver Lakers in (K-5) we held our annual Kickoff Assembly. We heard from Dr. Celico and then discussed BTP with Mr. Dulka. All students were so amazing during the assembly, Mr Dulka even awarded everyone a Tiger Tiger or Dojo Point for showing Black Tiger Pride.

Traffic Reminders

Between the hours of 7:30am and 4:00pm Overlook Rd, which is at the front of the school, is a one-way street heading south and Millboro Rd, which is at the back of the school, is a one-way street heading north. Keep the building on your right, and you'll always be going the correct way!

If you are dropping of your students and stop in front of a fire hydrant, please be sure to not leave your vehicle. If you want to leave your vehicle, remember to think about safety and not block a hydrant.

Kdg parents dropping off and picking up their students. Avoid the bus area in the back. The bushes to the fence is the area we need to keep clear. The area in front of the field and after the fence is where we ask parents to park.

Playground Use Outside of School Hours

Before School, we ask that no students be on the playground sets as there is not any supervision outside until the bell rings at 8:30am to allow students into the building.

After school, once students have joined their parents/guardians and are in their care and under their supervision students may be on the playground sets. Again, this is an issue with supervision and we do not want anything to happen to our little Black Tigers.

Bus Safety Meetings

Silver Lakers loaded into the Gymnasium to hear about bus safety from our very amazing CFCSD bus drivers. These folks are the first and last faces many of our students see every day and we thank them for all they do! They have such an important job keeping our Little Black Tigers safe.

Silver Lake Spotlight

Fun in the classroom

One day, as Mr. Dulka was walking around the building he stumbled upon Mrs. Balan and her students learning a dance and song to remember components of multiplication.

"Factor, Factor Product"

Little did her students know that Mrs. Balan could've been a song writer/choreographer but she chose to become a teacher and we are happy to have her at SLE :)
