Monthly Memo from the Principal

Mrs. Robbins- March 2020

Take me out to the ballgame...

Happy birthday to Dr. Seuss and happy Texas Independence Day!

So many fun things are happening in March. It is definitely one of the most exciting times of the year. I personally love it because baseball season is kicking off, the grass starts to come back, and my oldest daughter Emma turns 16 years old tomorrow (pray for us). If you have ever been down the road (literally) of teaching a child how to drive, then you get what I am saying. It is one of the scariest things I have ever done, but also very exciting to think of all of the errands she can run for us once she has her license. Thank goodness for the bright side!

My son plays 12U NL baseball at CPYL and he had his first regular season game this past weekend. It was the perfect day for baseball. The sun was out, but it wasn't sweaty hot and the wind was blowing, but just enough to prevent the bees from grabbing onto my sweet tea straw. I also loved it because I was able to watch a few different Huskies play ball. I love watching our kids have fun. It is the BEST! If you have a kid playing at CPYL...let me know...we are there all of the time. I would love to catch one of their games too!

For that matter, fill out this form and let us know when your Husky has something huge going on outside of school. Not just sports! We would love to celebrate their successes outside of school here at PHE.

Happy Spring,

Mrs. Robbins

Destination Imagination team moving on to STATE!!

Last Saturday, Leander ISD hosted its annual Destinaion Imgaination Regional Meet in Georgetown. They had over a hundred LISD Destination Imgaination (DI) teams participating and of those, 11 are advancing to STATE in April.

One of those teams belongs to PHE. Please see members below. This amazing group of kids make us very proud. They are one of only TWO elementary teams moving on. ONLY TWO. The rest were all middle school teams. Please join me in congratulating them on all of the hard work and efforts. Last month, they completed the hygeine drive here at PHE and donated hundreds of personal care items to local people in need as part of their Destination Imagination plan.

Also, a huge thank you to their parents and Heather Kiec (our QUEST teacher) for their support and guidance to these students. It takes a village!

Spring Break- No School March 14th-23rd; start back on Tuesday, March 24th

YUM! Hungry 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders attend the 5th Annual LISD Flavor Fest!

Last week, 15 lucky students were given the opportunity to attend the 5th Annual LISD Flavor Fest at Rouse High School. These students were nominated by their homeroom teachers based on behavior in and out of the classroom. Students were able to taste test many new products for the LISD Child Nutrition Services (CNS) and rate them based on their opinion. Some of the opinions they shared will be used to determine items added to the 2020-2021 CNS elementary menus. We had a great time and left completely full! A huge shout out to the CNS department for including these deserving PHE students. See pictures below.

5th grade Honor Choir performs tonight, March 2nd at 7 PM at Leander High School

Come out and support our amazing 5th graders in honor choir! They will be singing five songs with the Wiley MS choir directors. Other schools include Block House Creek and Plain Elementary. Thank you Ms. Arnold for teaching and challenging these Huskies!

Please join us for a PTA meeting!

We will have a PTA general session meeting on Tuesday, March 31st at 5:30 PM here at PHE. This meeting is important because we will be electing our new PTA executive board. Even if you do not know who is on the slate...come out and join us to learn more. We need you all!

Sensory Times/Room for PHE Events

If needed, PHE has a sensory time and room at all PHE events.
