Edgar Allen Poe
Edgar Allen Poe's Most famous story, The Tell Tale Heart was first published in 1843. It is widely considered a classic of the Gothic fiction genre. The story was told by an unnamed narrator speaking his accounts of murdering an old man. The story is driven by the narrators insanity and not his innocence. Throughout the 20th Century it was widely adapted into numerous films.
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was born in the city of Somers Town, London England on August 30, 1797. She was an English novelist, writer, dramatist and biographer. Her Gothic novel Frankenstein or the modern day Prometheus, were her best known works of literature. She also edited the work of her husband, the romantic poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley. She died February 1, 1851 at age 53 in Chester Square, London England.
Frankenstein was Mary Shelley's best known novel, It's original publication date in 1818. It follows Victor Frankenstein, as he reanimates a corpse. It was first suggested to be written after friends pitched the idea of a ghost story. It was one of the most notable texts in the gothic literature genre. Its creation has sparked numerous derivative works and sequels.
