Belonging pick-up information

As the 2019-20 school year comes to a close, we have determined dates to begin the large task of collecting district items and loaned technology.

Students and families will return all district items June 16–18 and 24. Elementary and high school students will return items from 10 a.m – 7 p.m. Middle school students will return items from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. The district operations team is leading the logistics of collecting all outstanding items including textbooks, library materials, uniforms, tech devices, etc.

Collection sites will include our four middle schools and two comprehensive high schools. Elementary students/families will be assigned by school to a middle school location.

Families are set to receive additional information in the coming days.

Graduation videos!

SPS contracted with Attic Media production company to capture individualized graduation ceremonies for each of our 563 SPS graduates who earned a diploma in 2020.

The ceremonies allowed for students to wear their caps and gowns, hear their names called and walk across a stage to receive their diploma while also adhering to current health and safety protocols. Attic Media compiled each of the student ceremonies at all of the four high schools and gathered other sentimental pieces that are traditionally shared at graduation ceremonies such as valedictorian speeches, student-shared memories and more.

SPS will premier the videos on YouTube at noon on June 11 so that students, their families and extended family circles may be able to witness the graduating class of 2020 be honored. The video will also be posted on the SPS website and Facebook for those who miss the premiere.
