Friday Sept. 8, 2023
Greetings!
The topics are all listed below, with a link to the pertinent information so that you can quickly scroll through to see if any of the topics pertain to you. There are 3 sections:
- Mental/Physical health support and resources

- Just for Seniors
MENTAL/PHYSICAL HEALTH SUPPORT AND RESOURCES...
- How to Steer Through Back-to-School Stress: A Parent's Guide - Register for this free, live webinar on 9/7
- WSD Mental Health Resources Hub: Find a variety of mental health resources available to families in the WSD in our Mental Health Hub.
ACADEMIC/CAREER INFORMATION AND RESOURCES...
Parents: please encourage your student to visit the Student Center during Soar Time to get answers to questions. This is the most efficient way for the counselors to help and provide answers - AND, it also teaches your students how to take responsiblity for their own educational needs.
College Planning Events!
- "Planning for College" for 9-11th grade parents - college planning strategies to guide you through high school and prepare you for college. Liberty Commons or Library (tbd)
- "College-bound Senior Seminar" for 12th grade students and parents - YOU SHOULD ATTEND THIS EVENT IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO APPLY TO COLLEGES THIS YEAR! You will definitely learn the answers to the questions you have. If I could make this event mandatory, I would... it's that informative! (Liberty Auditorium)

Seniors in the "Driver's Seat"
Seniors, you should be the driving force behind your career exploration, college research, and applications. Your parents should remain actively involved in your decision-making, and are a good resource when you have questions or need guidance. But, it should be YOUR fingers on the keyboards when it comes time to apply for college, scholarships, jobs, tests (ACT, SAT, ASVAB), internships, job shadowing, A+ tutoring, etc. The only way to become responsible is to take responsibility. You can do it, and we are here to help!
I would recommend saving this email; it contains so much information, and you may need to refer to it later. Remember that we are here to answer questions and help you work through the process of planning for life after high school. Let us know how we can serve you.
