NOTE FROM THE CLASSROOM
¡Hola Madres y Padres!
During the month of April, we experimented with science and discovery lessons. Some of the wild experiments were: a volcano eruption, bouncy eggs, chemical reactions and making their own rainbows. Through these various experiments, the children learned about forms of a substance: solid, liquid or gas. We also began the discussion of the life cycles of insects, different animals, and plants and will continue exploring this topic into May.
Since we have already touched on plant life cycles and maintenance, May will be full of learning about the farm and how it is maintained. The children will learn where foods like eggs and milk come from and how other animals are used on the farm. The class will also be taking a trip to meet some real live farm animals for an opportunity to feed and handle them.
Here is a list of helpful vocabulary that we will incorporate throughout May’s curriculum focus:
Con mucho cariño,
Las guías y el guía
May 1st – Archer
May 4th – Beatrice
PASEO TO THE ART FARM IN THE CITY
To kick off the month of the Farm, HOLA NYC will be sponsoring a fieldtrip to the Art Farm located on the Upper East Side. We will take the M86 bus crosstown to be dropped
off in front of our destination. The Art Farm is an eco-friendly and organic facility which teaches children about nature, animals and how to better care for our planet. They also teach children about responsibility through caring, loving and being in the company of animals. The children will handle and feed a wide variety of animals including: bunnies chinchillas, guinea pigs, lizards, turtles, birds, tropical fish and more. We may even see some pigs, chickens, goats and sheep!
We will have a heavy snack before heading out to catch the M86 bus at 10:45am. The children will have one hour to explore the farm before returning to the classroom at 12:30pm. We plan to arrive back at HOLA NYC by 1:00pm for lunch.
Because of our group size and schedules, we will be taking this trip over two days. Parents chaperones are welcome and need. If you can assist us on our crosstown journey, please email Stormy. Below is a list of your child’s assigned day and time:
Wednesday, May 6th
Thursday, May 7th
**Please note that parents or guardians of 2 year old children are strongly encouraged to attend any fieldtrips that involve public transportation.**
