Reading and Writing
This week, students have been enjoyed having Jordan Brandt and Brianna Beetham come into our classroom to help write books using ScribblePress. Mrs. Haider's class demonstrated how to compose stories and illustrate them with this iPad app. When stories are completed, students may email a copy to you.

Mrs. Haider's Class
Students teaching students works great to demonstrate new concepts and create role models.
Time's up...
Students enjoy beating the clock. In this case, before the bomb goes off!
Social Studies and Science
Students learned how U.S. citizens have a role in government by voting. The students suggested having a class election so we have decided to have a monthly class meeting with officers leading the meeting.
In Science, second graders learned about natural resources. To demonstrate how little fresh water is available on Earth, Amber Pribyl had students tear away parts of a paper. Only 0.3% of our fresh water is found in the surface of lakes, rivers, and swamps.
Eat the Earth was another activity to illustrate how little soil on Earth is available in which to farm. The skin from 1/32 of an apple represents the soil of our earth on which mankind depends for food production! The purpose of these activities is to show how important ii is to take care of our natural resources.
