Principal's Message
Happy End of 2023 Hawk Families,
First, a huge thank you to all the families who helped either provide food or money for last Friday's luncheon. All staff from aides, to maintenance, to teachers, to counselors, to secretaries were able to partake. This luncheon was greatly appreciated by everyone.
As we close out this year and head into 2024 I would like to take some time to reflect on some of the work we have been doing to support our students. We have had two PBIS celebration assemblies, monthly feather turn-ins, a Winter Dance, two Skateland fundraisers, our first Recreation Night, multiple spirit weeks, three music concerts, as well as lots of sports and clubs that have been up and running.
On a different note, School Resource Officers(SRO) in our district work for three years within a building before being rotated out. Officer James Wolbert will be transitioning out as our SRO after the break. We will be welcoming Officer William Paszkiewicz, who is in his 9th year with the Waukesha PD, to our building and school community . Thanks to Officer Wolbert for his service to our building and our community both in and out of the building.
Here is the School District of Waukesha's 2024-2025 school calendar.
Let's make it a great 2024 and see you all January 2nd,
Kent Kleinowski
Horning Principal
P.S. The Horning Wrestling team did a major singlets and equipment overhaul and could use your financial support. See link to donate.

PBIS
It will be implemented at all three middle schools in Waukesha this year. PBIS works to explicitly teach behavioral expectations to students in a proactive manner and also to celebrate students who are making good choices. Lessons will be done through Advisory this year and within the classroom when needed.
Bell Schedule for the 2023-24 School Year
All students will begin the day with Advisory and receive instruction in all four core academic areas each day of the week
Each class with be 44 minutes in length with the exception of blocked ELA and Math which will be double that time
Attendance and Electronics Reminders
Attendance:
Attendance is extremely important.
Our school wide expectation is that every student is arriving to their scheduled class on time prior to the start of class bell. This will ensure that active learning time is maximized and students are receiving the best learning environment possible.
Students have 3 minutes to transition from one class to the next. This time should be used to prepare for their upcoming class.
Students are able to access their lockers before school, before lunch, after lunch, and at the end of the school day. Students should be utilizing these opportunities to prepare themselves for their early/late classes.
Please do your best to make sure that your technology (iPad) is charged and ready to go at the start of the day. This will ensure classroom time is maximized for learning.
Cell Phone:
The School District of Waukesha has in place a cell phone policy that requires cell phones to be placed in their locker upon entering the school building. The phone should be turned off and left in their locker until they leave at the end of the school day.
Thank you all for helping support us in a successful school year. Working together we can accomplish great things.
